I will likely be accepting a full-time elementary position soon, in Minnesota. I am a fist year teacher and am expecting a child in August, a week before the school calendar begins. I know the policy is 6-weeks paid and 6- weeks unpaid. I am uncertain how maternity leave works in this situation. What are my rights, what are my limitations as an untenured teacher?
mn teacher You need to check with your district's HR department. AS far as I know, our district doesn't pay anything unless you could use some of your built-up sick days.

Check the teachers' contract for your rights. Each district has a different contract.
