I will be retiring July 08 and moving to Arkansas . My questions are as I understood I will not have to pay Missouri taxes and how do you let the retirement group take out your federal taxes and how much is that. Would it be better to take the monthly amount and have a cpa figure the amount of fed taxes? I will have 31 years with the 2.55 factor. Thanks
Have an immediate position for a full-time nanny watching two children through the end of the summer. One child is 4 and needs an organized person to assist with sensory integration exercises and help him with his language. He goes to preschool half days Mon.-Thurs. The 2 year old is a delightful child who takes long naps in the afternoon. Thus, if you're still a student, nap time is a good time to study.

Hello! My name is Emily. I am 25, and have my degree in Psychology, emphasis on Child Psych. I'm attending grad school next year, and am looking for a temp. position. I have worked in childcare since I was 12 years old. I started my own little "business" by passing out flyers around my neighborhood. Before long, my nights were filled with babysitting for several different families. I worked in the church nursery throughout middle and high school. During college, I worked at a preschool in the 2 year and under room. I have 2 nephews-ages 1 and 3-that I love to be around as much as possible! Most of my experience is with children 9 years old and younger. I love children, and I'd love to care for yours!

I live in Ballwin. I am 22 years old. I am going to be a senior at Missouri State University. I am majoring in Sociology and Psychology. I have been babysitting since I was 11. My mother did daycare in her home for 14 years, so I have grown up with and helped watch many of the children. I adore children and I have always wanted to Nanny for the summer. Please contact me.
I'm researching school districts in St. Charles county. Is anyone familiar with Wentzville, specifically teaching in the elementary schools? Any feedback..the good, the bad, & the ugly..would be greatly appreciated.
sccworlds.com has many news stories about the Wentzville district you could reference. Each monthly Board of Education meeting is videotaped and posted in the Wentzville section as well.

I attended Wentzville H S in 1948-49. I had a music teacher that inspired me to sing at music competition in Bowling Green, Illinois (?). She entered me in a number of competitions in that part of the country. I cannot remember her name and whether she taught voice, band or both. I remember a very small band marching onto the football field, but not much else. I was somewhat of a nerd in those days, but a pretty good singer, I guess. I remember she had red hair, was small and pretty, that's all. I'm 76 now, and reminiscing.

I am considering teaching in the Springfield Mo area. Any advice on the best schools to teach at? Anyone taught at any of these schools? Any info. about teaching in the Springfield schools will be helpful.
I just moved here last summer and teach in Springfield. It is the largest school district in the area. There are some smaller districts around but depending on what subject are you are looking for, those districts may not have many openings. I teach an elective class so it was difficult to find openings at first. I really like Springfield and the schools that I am at are wonderful. Like all districts, it has its strengths and weaknesses. I started looking for positions in February and wasn't able to find very many openings until the end of May and beginning of June. Good luck with your search.
I prefer being in this district because it is the largest in the area. It offers more opportunities/programs/funding for my subject area.
I am really behind on this post, so you might not be looking anymore. I taught last year in Sparta. I loved it. I really liked all the administrators. However, due to unfortunate circumstances I will be unable to return to the district. However, I recommend it to anyone who asks. I had a good experience there!! I don't know what they are looking for so late in the year but it is worth checking in to, especially if you have found nothing else.
I'm a very experienced elementary/ gifted teacher who is just sitting on pins and needles waiting to hear from districts I have applied to. I'm wondering how early is it in the process for districts to hire for next year. I know some districts (Parkway for one) haven't even posted positions to outside the district yet. Are there others still not posting to the outside, or is the market just really bad right now? Thanks for any info you can share.

With the St. Louis school being taken over, I bet plenty of teachers/admin. will bail now!
On 3/15/07, try University City...for certification look at DESE webpage wrote: > > nfm > > On 3/15/07, Shannan Curths wrote: >> Hi, I am certified in Illinois for 9-12 Speech, 9-12 >> English, Middle School Language Arts and social sciences >> and am filling out application for Mo. certification, what >> are the requirements to teach these subjects in Mo. >> Also anyone know of any job openings in any of these areas >> around St. Louis? >> Thank you >> Shannan Curths
What a sad event. I feel for the students who will struggle to get into college because their school lost its accredidation. I feel for the teachers who have tried to do a good job. I feel for the administrators who have tried to turn the schools around. I have no sympathy for the ones who have spent funds unwisely, who have played politics with futures, and who were selfserving rather than serving the ones they were suppost to serve! So Sad!
101 Norfork Resort offers 50.00 dollars off a three night or more deal for teachers and admin. They have modern, upscale chalets and hot tubs that are covered and private but still let you look out into the woods and watch the bluebirds, deer and dogwoods just now blooming. No screaming children, no highway noise just peace on earth and maybe a little goodwill for the man or woman who shares you with a very demanding job.

I am currently working on a project concerning graduate programs in education. One part of the project requires input as to how teachers would best like graduate courses scheduled. Some ideas I have seen are online courses, summer courses, intensive eight week courses, and even courses meeting on Friday nights and during the day on Saturday--these would only meet about four times.
Another part of the project requires that I investigate what is most important to teachers as they choose colleges and programs as well as what mediums are best used to reach them via advertising.
Any feedback you can give me would be a great help.
I have an M.A. and most of my classes were 4:30-7:30 p.m. on weekdays which made for a VERY long day. I have taken an online course and I really liked that format. Your last option sounds great, but I have not seen that offered anywhere. When I selected my institution it was based on reputation/ well known in the community so that it would improve my hirability. I wanted an accredited program that offered state certification in MO.
