I'm considering taking a position with this school district. Any info? I'm interested in learning about how people there like the year round schedule, if they pay during cycle breaks, how the insurance premium thing works and general thoughts about the school district and how it is run.
anonIt's a pretty horrible place to work. The pay is very low and there are not many perks. Teachers buy their own supplies and now aren't even reimbursed for them. Their technology department is a mess. Good administrators aren't promoted. Young and inexperienced are the worst kind to work for

Good luck to all student filmmakers and film instructors of course! This is a great way to put your school on the map.

Hi Judy,
I would love to talk to you about my own experience at Lindenwood.
Please email me for more specific information.
I can only say great things about Lindenwood as an alum and as a professor.
Hi, I am looking for a job in Kansas City for next year. Is there a need for teachers? I am licensed to teach English grades 7-12 in both Iowa and California. Any advice on how to go about getting hired? Or does anybody work anywhere that is hiring that could put in a good word for me? I am a talented young teacher with Inner City and Charter experience. THANKS!
Just curious, how many people who are writing bad things about teaching in KCMO have actually TAUGHT in the district or have just formed an opinion based on news reports and what they have been told? Yes, there are problems, but what district doesn't have them? If you really believe the district is that bad I have a question for you: If you didn't go into teaching to help make a child's life better, what are you doing in the classroom? If the KCMO district is as bad as you say, where could you make a bigger difference? Just my 2 cents after working for 8 years in the public school system in Kansas City.

Hi, I am wondering if anybody knows when Kansas City or surrounding communities does their hiring? Have I missed it or is it still coming, as of now, I'm not hearing much back. Thank you for helping.
I teach at Derrick Thomas Academy a charter school in Kansas City. We are still hiring. Look on moreap.net for other jobs available in Missouri

I am hoping someone can tell me if the students taking the MAP test can mark in their test booklets. I'm really thinking of the reading section. Can they underline important words, and things of that nature? If someone has this information I would greatly appreciate your help. Thanks, Christie
Yes. That is no problem to write in the test booklets like you are describing. It doesn't hurt or help as far as scoring goes. It is important that when they answer that all of their answers are in the designated areas, because when they are scored they take the books apart and scan them and the readers only see the designated areas. If they write answers in other areas it doesn't count.
Yes, students can "circle the verbs" so the know how many responses are needed for an item. They can number each question within an item, and write a corresponding number in the answer to assure they have answered each question. Just be sure that they use only their #2 pencil, and not a highlighter or marker for those extra marks. Highlighters and markers could bleed through and make student responses impossible to scan.
