I am looking for a retired teacher with the given names "Marilyn Donna". I have forgotten her last name. She taught in New York and then returned to Missouri to teach in the late 70's and early 80's. Her husband, John, and son, Don, were also teachers. Can you help me?
I am looking for a french tutor for our home schooled son. He will be spending about 2 months in Belgium next year so we are wanting a crash course in the language.
You didn't mention how old your son is, but there is a French immersion pre-school in Columbia called La Petite Ecole. Joëlle Quoirini, the founder, is amazing with kids, taught in a similar program on the eastern seaboard and coincidentally is Belgian. Contact her at [link removed].
Bon séjour, Rhonda

My class will be reading the story the Gingerbread Man and doing a project with it. I am asking if anyone would mind assisting with this... if you would like to please email me at [email removed].
Project letter: My name is the Gingerbread Man, my friend in CLass 2H was reading a story about me and i jumped out of the storybook to visit you. My friend at school is wondering where I have run to. Please help them by sending them a picture postcard showing them the area where you live. This postcard will be posted on a large map of the world outside of my classroom. This will help the children by showing them how different parts of the world look. I know my friends will enjoy hearing from you and learning where I have run! Thank you for your help! Got to go! The Gingerbread Man

We are considering moving to St. Charles and I am looking for information on Francis Howell School District. More specifically, I am looking for information on the following schools about their performance, rating, ranking etc:
> Heather Ridge Elementary School > Barnwell Middle School > Francis Howell North High School
I am looking for information on the staff, teachers, administrators and whether the school has been improving on its performance or not.
12/17/07 As a student at Riverview Gardens, I can honestly say that what most of you are saying is incorrect. To know how the school is you would have to be there to see everything. Yes, there are students who disrupt class, want to fight, and talk back to teachers, but what school doesn't have that. It's like you try to single us out. I've heard stories from other students at other schools, and there are worse things that occur there. WHY is it us just being talked about. Some districts are just as bad as us. You can't go by everything you see on T.V. Can you stop pointing out all the negative that you hear about us and not see for yourselves? What about the good? There are positive things that we are doing and trying to improve in. And for the bus driver. Bus drivers don't break up fights. They pull over and call for help. NOT ONCE have I seen a bus driver break up a fight. And not everyone can survive in Riverview Gardens School District, Brandon Wiser. I've been in Riverview Gardens School District since elementary school and I've never engaged in any negative activity. I have never been suspended, I have never had a detention, I'm on honor roll, I'm in extracurricular activities, and have been accepted to a few colleges that I've looked at. So that proves that what you put in is what you get back. So stop hating.
ARe there any teachers that teach in the St. Louis Public schools? I know there are issues and people have their opinoins about the school district, but I just wanted to speak with someone that teaches there. Does the loss of accrediation affect teachers? Thanks
Ok, I am wondering if anyone else out there has been struggling with Math Investigations? I have been teaching for nine years now and for the most part, my kids have done a very nice job on their MAP test scores. I don't know about the other grades, but the fifth grade program is a mess. If I follow the scope and sequence, then my kids will not even be close to being prepared for "the test." They can explain what multiplication means, but if you ask a lot of them a simple multiplication problem, they have trouble answering. I hate to be behind some of these kids at a bank when they have to pull out a bunch of manipulatives to see what they need to deposit. I have no problem with problem solving, but if the kids do not have a foundation of the basic facts, it is REALLY, REALLY hard for them to go to the higher level of thinking. I spent the last couple of years volunteering my own time to Pilot different programs to find out the district has just picked Investigations without consulting the pilot teachers... All because an "expert" from Wash. U said this is what we need to go with..... There is an awful lot of negative press over this program around the country....
I would like to thank all the great teachers that touched my life over the years and say hello and thank you for your assistance with my question. I am an adult seriously thinking of changing my career field to high school math or science. No one in my family or group of friends is an educator so such things as common retirement benefits are not known to me. Can someone please enlighten me and give me some idea what type of retirement benefits teachers often receive? Some specific questions I have are 1) How to estimate retirement pay? 2) Is retirement pay indexed to inflation or increased over time? 3) Any health care or other non pay retirement benefits typically provided? 4) Any benefits to a spouse if a retired teacher dies? For example would a surviving spouse continued to receive all or part of the teachers retirement pay? Any other important information you would like to share. Thanks for taking the time to help a stranger.
There is a lot of training and paperwork involved but we have used Reading First and have had excellent results. In fact we are about to run out of elgibility because of our success so we are looking for other sources for funding to keep doing Reading First. (WE do have an excellent admin. who knows what he is doing!) I don;t have first hand experience because I teach at Jr. High. I do know that we are getting better reading student than before.
