Okay. So, secondary English, elementary education, Chemistry, and Math teachers are not needed in Missouri. Anyone see lots of openings for an certificate area in Missouri (St. Louis metro area)?

I am a recently retired business owner. I have a teaching degree, long expired, from South Dakota. My business experience includes 27 years in advertising, marketing, sales, and management. I have actively served my industry's professional organizations by giving educational seminars. I have written articles for trade journals and mentored many young people in the industry. How would I determine if any business schools or trade schools might be interested in utilizing my expertise to teach courses related to my experience? I taught night school classes for a time at American Institute of Business in Des Moines, IA and have a bachelor's degree in education.
The closest college is Jefferson College in Hillsboro, MO, but if you are willing to drive 30 minutes or so you can be at St Louis Community College at Meramec. Each college will have job postings online. I know that JeffCo is [link removed].
I took a teaching job and now I have realized that my knowledge on the subject matter is not where it should be. I am only temporarily certified because I do not have a degree in the subject I am teaching and recenlty I returned to school to get it. I started class and now DONT want to be there. What are my options, do I even have any, what are the legalities in Missouri regarding this??? (meaning I want out)
Not enough information to answer. Here are some questions: Do you belong to a professional organization such as MSTA or MNEA? They should be able to listen to your situation and repond with legal expertise at no cost to you. Are you in a private or public school? If you've signed a contract to teach and choose to break that contract, some districts will choose to go to DESE to have your teaching certification revoked. Be very careful about your next step and please seek competent legal advice. How about talking to your personnel director? They may not want to transfer you to another position after the year is started, but it's worth a shot. I think it depends on the district on the end of teaching certificate revoking. Some, quite frankly, are used to teachers leaving and won't cause that kind of trouble over a resignation. Definitely give plenty of notice. Just out of curiosity...do you have a mentor and is this person supporting you?
Are there any districts in Columbia that need a part-time or full-time sub? I graduated from Mizzou in December and now I am working on my certification. I work at a preschool now, but I would like to have more experience in the classroom.
Depending on the time of the year, CPS is usually looking for subs. You get on the sub finder system and work as much or as little as you want. This will provide you with a variety of experiences. Apply through the district office but they will take almost anyone who has worked with kids and has 60 college hours.

Has anyone ever heard anything about or used the services of a teacher placement company called Educational Placement Service? If so, what have your experiences been?
I am still looking for a teaching position, and I am thinking about giving them a call.
I was assigned to a charter school almost immediately. But to date, I have not been paid. I am presently trying to get ahold of an address for this Agency, but to no avail. No one returns my calls. They continue to call me for placements. I will not work again until I am paid.
Upon furter research, I learned that there was an agency called, "Educational Placement Services", based in California. But the Better Business Bureau lists this company as "...out of business". They said that if you have money owed to you from EPS, that you must contact an attorney.
Is a remedial reading certificate required for positions like Reading Recovery, Title I Reading, etc? Or, is an elementary education certificate enough?
In order to be a Title 1 Reading teacher, you have to have a remedial reading certificate.
You can be paid through Title 1 funds, however without that specific certificate. If you are Reading Recovery certified (specific program with annual continuing contact) you can teach that program in a Title 1 program. Through that program you can also be trained in Early Literacy, which is a specific method of small group instruction for grades 1- 3. This is a choice in "coding" the district core data report.
If you are not remedial reading certified, you can be "coded" in the core data as Title 1 Language Arts, which, instructionally could include reading.

I am a first year teacher in an eMINTS artroom. Are there any other eMINTS art teachers out there that can give me tips? I am getting eMINTS training, but it is all geared towards regular classrooms, not special areas. HELP!!!
Does anyone know of a good degree and/or certification program for special (remedial) reading? I am already a certified elementary teacher with a general master's in education degree, but I am thinking about getting certified in special reading as well. Would especially be interested in online programs/courses or those in the St. Louis or surrounding areas.
