I am a graduate student at Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi. I am conducting research for my master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction, specializing in math. Specifically, I created a survey regarding the role of virtual manipulatives in today's mathematics classroom. I am in the process of distributing this survey to as many mathematics teachers as possible. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Below is a direct link to the survey:

PLEASE forward this e-mail on to any teachers you know who are currently teaching mathematics-- elementary, middle, or high school. With your help, I hope to receive results from all over the country.
Any help you can provide in publicizing this survey is greatly appreciated.
I am doing some research I was ask by the Special School District of St. Louis County to sign a two year agreement in order to become vested in the school retirement system. There was just one catch I had to promise to resign at the end of that two year period. This is for real Missouri NEA approved of this. If anyone else in the St. Louis area signed a similiar agreement please contact me at [email removed]
For 5 years I worked as a Resouce Teacher/Asst. for the Special School District of St. Louis County in the Hazelwood School District. Last Spring my supervising teaacher ask that I be rehired for the 2006-2007 school year. However this recommendation was ignored by the Superintendent of Special School District due to the fact I had filed a disability discrimination complaint aganist in 2003. I have this in writing. The Human Rights Commission is investigating. However they are getting no help from NEA here in St. Louis I had paid dues to NEA FOR THE BETTER PART OF 23 YEARS and now no help. My disability Cerebral Palsy. I believe I should be getting more for my dues from the NEA. Can anyone in this community help I'm spending all my savings to live I miss teaching. Don't join MNEA. I looking to move back to Springfield or surrounding area to do student teaching in the summer or to find a job teaching business under a provisional certificate. I am currently at Lindenwood completing my Masters and Teaching certification. I have been subbing in the Parkway District in St. Louis and I coach football and baseball as well. Any help would be appreciated.
I am thinking of moving to Kansas City and was wondering if anyone could give me some insight. I'm a middle school math teacher and I've had 2 bad experiences in AZ and NV. I'm hoping to find a place where I can actually teach without being miserable. What are the class sizes like? What is the admin. like? What are the kids like? What are the good districts and what are the ones to avoid? Is it worth making the move or will I just be miserable there, too? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Be weary of the Kansas City School district. I did some internships in that district. Many of the teachers I spoke with described the administrators as "shady". I attended school in the North Kansas City School district and definately think it is a district worth checking into. Most of the KS area schools are good. Olathe, Overland Park, etc. Also, I have lots of family in Liberty, Kearney,Smithville and Platte County who enjoy their districts. KC is a wonderful place to live. I wish I was still there ;) I am sure you could find a pleasant area to start a career!! Good Luck!

the KCMO school district. When I was there they mistreated me and others so badly. The principals do things underhanded. They tried to get rid of me because I called union to do something they did. They rode my but all year. They would drop nasty notes in my mailbox, and on my desk, they played favorites and basically made my life H*ll. Others have told me the same thing. because of that district a few teachers left teaching for good. DO NOT GO TO THAT DISTRICT> It is shady and they treat their teachers horribly. I agree I hear N.K.City is good, Gardner, Olathe, DeSoto and Shawnee Mission.

I am moving to the Kansas city area this spring, will it be difficult for me to find an elem. teaching job, also I have end. in ESL, and reading will that help me get a job? Thanks!
I am certified in Elementary Education, which makes it very difficult to find a job in MO. I want to get certified in another area to make myself more marketable. Here are a few areas I am considering: Special Education, MS Math, Special Reading, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and Library Media Specialist. Which one or two of these areas are really in need of teachers right now?
I've been teaching for 14 years and all of these are good choices for marketability. There seems to be more turnover in special ed. Reading is second to that but it is neck and neck with ESOL and there are fewer ESOL certified teachers. Since there is often just one library specialist, there are less positions out there, so it seems. I would not recommend middle school unless you really like working with kids that age. I definitely don't.
