I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the teacher shortage or surplus situation is in Mississippi. I am an elementary ed teacher who just got a math degree. I happen to be bilingual. I have been shocked to still be receiving offers to teach Spanish while many people just skim right over my actual degrees and certifications. I haven't been in...See More
on the coast All I can speak of is my area, and there is no surplus of jobs, for sure. Some districts are under hiring freezes right now. I heard that Long Beach laid of 30+ teachers. You may be able to get something in math, but overall, there are not many jobs at all.

Our district is exploring new reading programs. I realize that reading cannot be taught from just one program, but I also realize the district will order one. I would like to know if anyone just loves the reading program they are using. I am hoping to get something at least partially aligned with MCT2. Thanks for any thoughts or input.
Just wondering if anyone had any good advise for 1st year teachers. Thanks.

What format do teachers use for lesson planning? I remember back when I was in school teachers had a book similar to a calendar and they wrote an outline of their lesson. Do teachers still use those?

    Thanks.
Victoria We used those until about two years ago...then the district asked us to submit them through an online program called EZ Lesson Planner b/c it is easy for the principal/district to access and the teacher can mark off the objectives covered throughout the year and then see a report of how often an objective has been taught and what needs more attenti...See More

This survey concerns all teachers; novice and veteran.

Please take time to complete this survey. It is for a thesis statement. I would appreciate your thoughts and opinions. After all, if it does not currently concern you, it will eventually. Results will be posted at the end of July, 2009.

    Thank you so much...so much,
