BP Scholarships for Study Abroad for High School Students Who are Financially Challenged for a Year
In the past, this has only been for students in several states. However, AFS-USA and BP felt that they needed a larger pool of students from which to choose. Locally, contact Becky Heywood at [email removed]].
Teenagers ages 15-18 can apply for a free, FULL scholarship to study abroad for one year in amazing countries. Apply today for a chance to win a scholarship for the next school year.

We were overwhelmed with the number of original volunteer project ideas we received. A winner was chosen - Sam Harshbarger of Cranbury, NJ - and he and four other students received full scholarships to bring his vision into action on a customized, two-week program to document indigenous Russian populations. Watch an interview with one of the participants.
As a result of last year’s success, Project: Change is back, and bigger than ever. You will see that it is featured prominently throughout the Scholastic materials. We also encourage you to spread the word to inspired teenagers in your community. They’ll have the chance to learn about real issues affecting our world today, and expand their thinking to come up with ways in which they could be part of the solution. See what Project: Change is all about.
Last year Catlyn Ellis ( who is now a freshman at UTK) and was a senior at Rossview HS from Clarksville, TN, was one Mthe four national winners who won a trip to Russia to explore her project.
Thanks for your support. Have an AFS (awesome, fantastic and stupendous) day. Locally, contact Sandy Rich (TDS) at [email removed]])

Many scholarships are available,...See More Why are not more parents with gifted and talented children not hosting AFS-USA exchange students and sending their children on study-abroad programs? Even students in IB programs are not taking advantage of these opportunities to grow in ways that are not possible with out reaching out. See [link removed]?
Many scholarships are available, but some deadlines are even October 1st for those that are for second semester in Italy and South America. In fact there are still AFSers scheduled to study here in the USA who still need loving hosts for the fall. See above web site and/or call 800-876- 2377 for more information and to see mini-bios of those who need you.
...See MoreI have never been in this position before and frankly, My question to the forum is this: what are the boundaries that should not be crossed by other teachers.
I'm shocked that it is happening to me. My building was divided into two classrooms. The new classroom has doors that lock but my classroom is accessed by the outside doors.
I have spoken with my administrator who told me that it was my responsibility to speak to the other teacher. Even though I have spoken to the new teacher about raiding my consumable supplies, she continues to do so all last year.
When I came in to set up my room, my closets had been rifled for bulletin board paper and paint to make spirit banners for the cheerleading squad. Yes, the new teacher is now the cheerleader sponsor.
While I was there, another administrator came in to collect the banners who told me that he was asked to do so by my administrator. So, my administrator is aware that the situation is continuing.
I have purchased padlocks and a cabinet with my own funds to lock up the supplies purchased by a grant, not district funds.
I am so disappointed that there is no respect for boundaries or even the consideration of asking.
I feel displaced and violated in my own classroom.
Take note that AFS-USA is offering $1,000 off on the 2015 Global Prep Program to all eligible AFS Volunteers, their children and grandchildren, as well as all former AFS host families. ( You may have some in your school who can take advantage of this offer.)

The Miss Tennky Area AFS Team will have a booth at Rivers and Spires April 14-16 in Clarksville, TN. Come by to view literature, meet our local exchange students and their families, plus volunteers.
