No where does it say that this applies > to EVERY teacher that is coming from out of state. I do not KNOW, but here is my experience. A) I taught one year and then returned to teaching after 10 years in NC, but different district. Was put in Beg Teach Program. (seemed logical to me). B) Colleague with extensive experience moves from another state to NC. Not in Beg Teacher program but was probationary and had extra observations in first year. C) I moved to different district within NC after 6 years. Also treated as probationary and had extra observations but not in Beg. teacher Program. Your scenario seems like B so it is not logical to me that you would be placed in a Beg Teacher program but might be subjected to higher level of observations. But Charter Schools operate on their own rules, so who knows?
I like the way the previous poster worded it: Every test, every PLC meeting, every wasted moment on that useless evaluation tool ... yeah, remember. Remember it all.
Yes, I agree with voting out the establishment, but who is coming in with better ideas and more promise? Give us names! One of our problems is that so often we're forced to choose between the lesser of two evils.

Any planning has to be done at home in the evenings and weekends. There is no way to get any planning done during the scheduled day.

I am looking at retiring soon. I requested an estimate of what my retirement monthly check would look like. Does anyone know if this amount is taxed? Is the amount they quote you what you actually receive or before taxes? Haven't we already pay taxes on our retirement?by
WakeMy contributions to the pension are not taxed but will be taxed when I retire. It wasn't always this way depending on when you began teaching. You can google NC teachers retirement handbook and look at pages 26 and 27 for detailed information about state and federal taxes regarding your pension. Good luck!

Be sure you shelter your annual leave pay out in a 457 or 403 account. The state Prudential rep can help you with that. Contacts are on the retirement website. Good luck!

I was just looking at Orbit seeing when I can retire. I was looking at my salary history and my salary in 2015 was only $918 more than in 2009. Sigh...
GettingoutofDodgeYep - just checked mine...I made 600.00 LESS in 2015 than I did in 2007!

I'm looking for teachers who have either been sexually harassed by administration or have known other teachers who have. I'd like to speak to anyone who has gone through Human Resources about it and what exactly they did about it.

I was simply pointing out that you are taking Steve's (and possibly my) explanation of the fact that check to check deductions don't affect the net result on taxes as political support.
I am distraught about the goings on in Raleigh these past several years and have spent quite a bit of time, money, and effort to fight the downward spiral. I think you are lashing out at your own team.

I hadn't noticed either. I'll check tomorrow. BTW, I thought retirees weren't getting the bonus.

Susan- thanks for the reply. I am not looking to start automatic deductions from my check - I am retiring very soon and just need an account to shelter my annual leave pay out. I don't think AXA is on our county approved list - but thanks anyway.
