I just transferred to a school system in NC from another NC system. I put in for a sick day two weeks ago for an out of town appointment (not a doctor appt....but a bank appointment.) In my previous district it was no questions asked when someone put in for a sick day (as long as he/she took all necessary steps for a sub, didn't abuse it, etc.) However in my new district I was told I had to have a doctor's note because it was a preplanned sick day. Is this allowed? I'm curious as to other district policies....maybe I was just spoiled in my other district but it infruiates me that I'm required to get a note.

advanced degrees.

Are you suggesting it's professional to take a sick day
when you're not sick?

I have been a dedicated teachers for many ye...See More

abc You are absolutely correct. However, the op is asking what
to do now that the admin has called her out on it. I think
this is typical bullying. Admin probably knew full well
there was no dr note available. I have never never been
asked for a note. I guess the best response would be what
the other advice was.

If you didn't v...See More

A I think this is typical bullying.

Eh, gotta disagree. The OP admits she was using a sick day when she was actually keeping an appointment -- did she say at the bank? That's misuse of benefits, not bullying.
