Hello, just wondering if anyone will be attending the state K conference in July at Kearney. I have gone the past two years and enjoyed it. I am going again this year and wanted to see how many others will be there. I teach K in curtis at Medicine Valley Elementary school. elle

How did the Kindergarten Conference go? What speakers did you like the best? Will they be holding again next year and will it be in the same location...any info would be good! Thanks!
Looking for good online professional development courses? Try these. Inexpensive, with great lessons for the classroom. You'll love them; 6 weeks; 30 inservice credit hours.

Aren't online courses the best thing since 'control tops?' I earned 15 credits Online. The courses were only three weeks and I earned 3 credits per course. You can 'go to class' anytime, (I went after the kids went to bed). I started in April and I will receive my raise in September. It sure beats staying late for the classes offered through the district. (And waiting another year or two for the +15 raise. My co-workers chose to wait and now they are dreading attending the in district workshops…where everyone wants to show everyone else how much they know and what they do in their classroom. If you have ever attended one of these you know what I’m referring too. When you just want to say… ‘Walk a mile in my shoes’. Each classroom has a different personality and proactive measures are pertinent. I gained much more from these classes and enjoyed the ease and this method for professional development. There are a bunch of classes offered too! It is very convenient and it was worth every penny!! I particularly benefited from the simple ideas that teachers from all over the country contributed. Being a new teacher, (going into 3rd year) the interaction was exceptionally accommodating. (Admin. should take some of these courses and notice exciting and creative ideas that are practiced in other districts. lol) Check it out...just type University of Phoenix Online in any search engine! Good Luck and happy learning (and earning!!).
Ok.. at first I didn't like them... I'm growing more fond of them... BUT
I keep noticing there are SEVERAL plate that have three letters followed by three numbers... The letters always begin with "N" ---- What's up with that???? ARe they special plates for something???? One I noticed the name of the county in small print underneath (Lancaster)... Are these county specific???? Do you know??? Do you know where I can go for more information/?????
Hello there ! If there are any teachers who have a Nebraska Licence Plate lying out in the barn and wouldn't mind letting me have it I will pay the postage and whatever might be considered reasonable compensation. I have been thinking of attempting to collect all 50 states but never devoted much energy to it. I have a few (three states) and if I get one from this well who knows I might become more enthusiastic about my collection. Thanks for reading. Brian.

I have a couple plates you could have. One is a personalized plate "BURNZZ" and the other is a plate from my farm pickup in Platte county (county 10). If you would like one or both let me know. KCB

I joined a postcard exchange and we are still short a few states. If you are interested, here is the explanation from the project leader and a URL to her site for more information.
Hi, I - have over thirty-five teachers already involved in a Postcard Exchange, and would like you to consider joining too!
In September I will provide labels for all the schools involved, all you have to do is mail postcards from your state to the teachers on the labels. All the teachers will do the same, and you will receive postcards from all over the United States.
This is a great project to get your students involved in.
No cost except for the postcards and stamps to mail the postcards (students can bring them in!)
Here are the states we still need:
Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Idaho, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, Wyoming.
Please email me only if you see your state listed here and want to be a part of this great activity:
Here's a public invitation for application to the IndiVisual/Hewlett-Packard 'Read for Life' scholarship. I feel this is important to share with the public and hopeful you will help the spread the word with teachers and schools administrators about this great scholarship opportunity to help struggling readers.
The 'Read for Life' scholarship consists of a wireless mobile reading lab complete with 5 Hewlett-Packard laptop PCs complete and 3 years unlimited student-use of IndiVisual Reading ($25,000 value). Another plus with this scholarship is the fact that Dr. John Manning, a former president of the International Reading Association, is the author/advisor behind the IndiVisual Reading program. The scholarship is available to any public, private, parochial or charter school within the United States.
I have published one book: 7001 RESUMES, it is a job search book and you can find it on the internet in most book sites. I will have two more coming out soon: JUMP START YOUR CAREER, and JUMP START YOUR COMPUTER SKILLS. The "Career" book is for HS grads. and Adults entering the world of work for the first time. And the computer book is for training in the classroom. I have been developing it for over 2 years. They are coming soon. I hope to publish Jump start, this fall, and the computer book in the Spring of 2003.
If you are interested let me know. I have taught 7,001 in Adult Ed. classes as a Career training book.
For information give me a call at 714-996-4221 or 714-515- 6103 or E-mail me.....
The computer book, I believe is better that "Future Kids" and should cost a lot less.
My book 7,001 is now in some colleges, Libraries, HS, and ROP's throughout America.
I have just been assigned to 7-12 Counseling (from an elementary position) I might also be 1/2 Title 1 or totally K-12 Counseling.....time will soon tell. Anyway, can you give me a run-down on what your counselors do in your schools????
