I am looking to teach French at the high school level, ideally in the Concord area, for the Fall. I have found masses of job openings on-line for Boston schools, where should I be looking to find job postings for New Hampshire? I know that now is the time. Any ideas about pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Hello all, It is that time of year again.... Postcard exchange signup. We are in need of the following states: AK, DE, DC, HI, IA, ME, MA, NH, ND, RI, VT, WI, WY Our postcard exchange consists of having your students create 50 postcards for your state to send off to the other participants. I had a NH teacher contact me about our postcard exchange, but did not send an email address. I would love to contact you, so please send me an address. Thanks!
Hi there, I just recently moved to Nashua and I would like to get into teaching, HS Spanish or Psychology. I currently work a 9-5 corporate job and have a Bachelors degree, but am a little confused about my options to get certified in NH. Anyone recently go through this? I dont know many people yet for networking, etc. so I was hoping to get some advice here. Email me if you would like as well.
I just checked, Spanish is a critical shortage area. There does not seem to be that many job postings but I bet that there are a lot fewer applicants for each spanish job than there is for ss.
Good Luck, Dot

If you live in Nashua, consider getting certified for MASS not NH - better pay and easier to get in (prelim cert=take the MTEL, see state of MA DOE website) - there are also many more districts you can commute to that are in MA as opposed to NH (bigger target field)
Also, get some type of classroom experience this year - do whatever - with the Spanish some of the local nonprofits will let you volunteer to teach ESL classes

The salaries I have seen are between 27,000-32,000 for first year BA. If you go to the state board of ed website they have a list of all the average salaries and the base beginning salaries.

I am looking for information on the special ed program in nh. I am a resident of massachusetts with a 7 yo son with Downs. He is recieving an excellent education where we are and I have not had any problems recieving services in the last 4 yrs . We would like to leave mass and buy a home in nh for a more rural living but are afraid to jepadize his education. I am wondering if special ed is the same state wide? Are there towns in southern nh that are better then others? and any other info would be great . we are interested in southern nh area only.

I heard the average class size in NH is 17:1. Is this true? it can't be! I teach out of state, and my district claimed once that there was a clas size of 20:1. Well, in k-3 its about that but in my grade 5 class it was 32:1.
so I'm curious, what is the average class size in primary? uper elem.? Middle and high school? THE TRUE CLASS SIZE, that is, from your observations. Thanks! :)

As a Fourth Grade teacher, I have had anywhere from 27 down to 23 students in my class. The First Grades try for a 17:1 class size, but by the end of the year, it's usually more like 20:1. I don't know of any classes in our town that have the low numbers you mentioned. Some of the Fifth grades in our town have had 30-32 students. It depends on the year and the school.
A great group of teachers is looking for several states to join our yearly postcard exchange. We are only interested in dedicated teachers who are willing to be 100% committed to this project, so please only respond if you are truly interested. Unless you have wonderful parent volunteers who are willing to supply your postcards and stamps, you will most likely spend around $50 total on postcards and stamps. Please keep that in mind!
Each teacher is responsible for sending one postcard to each participating teacher (you will send out 49 postcards and in turn receive 49 postcards). Messages on the postcards can be written by your students (or by you if you teach younger grades), and may include interesting facts about the city/state you live in, state symbols, etc. A complete address list will be emailed to you by September 1st (possibly earlier if we have 100% participation by then). The deadline for sending your postcards is October 31st.
If you are interested in joining, please email me the following information:
Your name The grade you teach Your school's name Your school's address Your email address Your school's website or your classroom website address
Once again, please only reply if you are certain that you will be able to participate fully in our exchange. Thanks!!
