I'm taking the liberty of sharing an email I just received about the kidwind project. There are still seats available for a workshop that's to meet on the 24th which I'm thinking would be of some interest to science teachers in the immediate area. Contact information is provided in the email below.
Hello Friends!
Thanks for your application and we look forward to seeing you at the Wind Energy Workshop at Chewonki on June 24th
A web page on Kidwind has been established with a tentative agenda, directions and other useful information about the workshop. Head here to check it out… [link removed] .
We will provide a snack and lunch at this workshop and parking is free in the Chewonki parking lot.
We have some great guest speakers planned and lots of hands on activities to take home so we look forward to your attendance. If for some reason you have had a change in plans please let us know right away as we have to adjust numbers for food and materials.
This workshop still has space for 6 more teachers so if you have any friends that are teachers get them to sign up! There is still time! If they are not interested in wind energy tell them there is free food, materials and Chewonki is in a great location. We are especially interested in attracting teachers from the Carrabassett Valley, Stratton, Rangeley, Kingfield area in ME as they are planning a pretty big wind farm near Sugaloaf and we want to do a more in-depth wind project near there.
If you have the time or interest you might want to read some background information on wind before coming. This is not required but it may make the workshop more useful to you if you do. You can check out some preliminary material here… [link removed]
Well we look forward to seeing you on June 24th and please contact me if you have any questions at all!
I am currently looking for a K-5 teaching position for the 2004-2005 school year. As of July, I will have a K-6 CA teaching credential and a Master of Education Degree in cross-cultural teaching. I will be moving back to NH in July. For my undergraduate degree, I went to Notre Dame College in Manchester. If anyone knows of Elementary openings, please let me know.

The following states are still needed to complete our Postcard Exchange: AL, AK, CO, CT, DE, DC, IA, KS, KY, ME, MD, MN, MT, NV, NH, ND, OR, RI, SC, SD, WV, WY
If you are interested, please e-mail me your school address. We would love to have you. To find out more about the Postcard Exchange, read on.
I teach 5th grade and find that a postcard exchange ties in well as a geography review, as well as writing--the format of a postcard.
If you choose to join, your job will be to send each participant a postcard. Usually I have my class create one postcard and then photocopy and glue it on individual postcards. In the letter we include information about our state and our school.
Then when we receive the various cards from other states we display them on a bulletin board. I put a U.S. map on the wall and everytime I receive a card we put a pin in that city/state and attach the postcard.
My students love receiving the postcards. They have an opportunity to learn little things about states and schools.
At the end of the summer I will be e-mailing all of the participants a list of addresses that will be involved in the exchange. Usually we have about 30 states, I would love to get all 50 states, but I haven't had that happen yet. Let me know if you have any other questions or if you are interested so I can add your state to our list.
I wanted to get some guitar strings from a place on Amherst St. If you are close, I could have you mail them which would be cheaper than them shipping.
I am looking for a job as a teacher's assistant or aide. I live in Northern massachusettes, so it would have to be in Southern New Hampshire. I have no experience but I am looking into taking some courses in Early childhood education. I'm not sure how things are in NH but in Massachusetts I need to take a course in Child development worth 3 credits and have 9 months experience to be a pre-k teacher and to be OCCS certified. I am just hoping someone will give me a chance so that I can accomplish my dream of being a teacher.
I just read your post on the MA board. I would submit my resume to different child care centers in Chelmsford and Westford. Have you tried Next Generations in Westford? Check the Lowell Sun or bostonworks.com for ads. Nashua has many child care centers that will be looking. Also, check public schools websites for paraprofessional (I believe Nashua had some openings), assistants, or aide positions. In some cases, these jobs aren't advertised, but simply offered to people who know other people. I am sure you will find something. Good luck.

I will look into these places you suggested. I hope I find something soon. It's a little frustating but I can't give up, since it is something I really want to do. In the Lowell sun there are teacher's positions no assistants.

Just wondering what the qualifications are in NH to be a preschool teacher? In Massachusetts we have to be OCCS certified. Is it the same in NH or is it called something different?

Hi Belinda, I used to live in Cambridge, MA, and just moved to Peterborough in 2004. I had career counseling for early childhood education at the Child Care Resource Center in Cambridge. I was told that to be OCCS certified in MA, you need to have taken one or two child development courses. In NH, this varies. You will find some teachers who do not have certificatgion working in the field, but for the most part you need at least a Bachelor's degree (although I have met a few with their Master's). I'm working on getting my certification now at Keene State College, and I already have a Bachelor's degree. It all depends on what level of teacher you want to be. Hope this helps. -Marla
