Folks, I had to take a little over two months of leave for health reasons two years ago. I never asked, but now I wonder if missing this time will put me behind the other teachers were hired on the same day as I--you can guess why this is important now. Are such rules decided by districts or by NJ? Am I now junior to the dozen or so people who started when I did? Will I be considered "last in" and therefore be first out? Know any place looking for a history teacher--I know you don't.
ron/nj I would think seniority is based on starting dates. Is this for non-tenure teachers as I don't think seniority would apply?

All of the teachers involved are tenured--yes, it's come to that. Last year all the nontenured teachers were let go; one or two were rehired. There won't be enough of them to lay of...See More

ron/nj Wow, that will be close. Assuming teachers all start on opening day, they would have to look at the date of signing.
