Nathaniel Thanks, that clears a few things up. I'll have to check into exactly how many of the NM exams I need to take. I think some, like Content and Basic Skills, might transfer between states, but I would have to check. Anyways, thanks a lot for the response!

I hope to move to NM in fall 2010 and wanted to know if New Mexico's teachers pay social security? I have not paid much in in Texas and would like to do so now. Thanks, Vivian

Mrs. G I have a good friend who is an all-level Sped teacher, and had been interviewing all over the State of NM for whatever teaching jobs she can interview...jobs are scarce everywhere...no particular area in NM has any more openings than another right now.

I have a level 2 teacher license in NM and taught for four years I then moved to Arizona and taught for a few years and got my masters degree. I am moving back to NM and see that I can move to level 3 without a dossier because of my out of state teaching ex. and of course my masters has anyone else done this and did it work out??
Rosemary You need to talk to the PED -- State Public Ed Department. Level 3 also depends on "leadership" roles within the school, etc. The dossier is one method to move from level 1 to level 2, but only the State PED can decide what you need to do. My own experience is the Masters helps w/$, but not really licensure level.

I am considereing relocating to New Mexico from Nevada. I have two Bachelor's degrees and will have finished my Master's by the time we move. What is the salary for teachers?
Dimushi Here in New Mexico, the salary is primarily left up to each district. There is, however, a minimum salary for each level. Tier 1 is 30k, Tier 2 is 40k, and Tier 3 is 50k. Hope this helps

kk Why do you want to leave Austalia for USA? I've heard that Australia is a much better place than US full of crime in addition going through an economic depression. Just curious. It must be true the grass is greener on the other side. Good luck to both of you hope all will work out to the best for both of you
