Should I be worried?

I have been looking in the Albuquerque Journal, APS and Rio
Rancho websites online. Unfortunately, no one is really
hiring yet. I've seen a few things in this week's Sunday
paper, but that's it. I am certified in NM and previously
taught in Rio Rancho. Currently, I'm teaching overseas and
really want to go home, but I'm starting to get worried.
International schools hire early, so I had to give my notice
in January. So, now I don’t have a job and no solid leads.

I can't remember what time of year it was when I applied for
my last job in NM. When do most schools announce openings?
Should I just send my resume to schools that interest me? I
just don't know what to do and would love any advice anyone
can give me.

Not to worry! NM law requires a 30-day notice, so summer is
when all the jobs open. The union got huge pay raises across
the state (good news), so teacher turnover is not as high as
it used to be (bad news for you).

They'll start any day now, or at least by May. Check the APS
website every day. (Even if they say it's updated once a
week-- it's really updated more often than that). Most of the
hiring is in May/June and late July/August and another wave in
October after the 20-day student count.

Mexico. Also, if worse comes to worse, they are begging for
