We would love to have a teacher from your wonderful state join us for our 2013-14 postcard exchange! It is a fun, educational activity for all ages! My kindergarten class has loved getting mail and listening to the fun facts about the states! We have classes from K-6 participating. Please email me for more information!
Of course this is to get rid of ineffective teachers, but ineffective teachers like Doctor Dimwit have not been in the classroom for years. If you are a classroom teacher you are a sucker because you must not have any connections. If you did, you would be a Facilitator, Coordinator, Director, and the others who do not have to worry about being fired because of student test scores.
It's very possible these idiots will be forced to go back into the classroom once Nevada districts get rid of the older, experienced teachers. Then they can get rid of THEM and save more money on salaries and pensions.

Learning Strategists, Springboard and Kagan Coaches. I need a coach to tell me how to do my job. Well, it is to implement scripted teaching which of course anyone can do, especially someone with 6 weeks training and got their jobs through Teach for America. These clowns are starting to run from the classroom and get desk jobs, while teachers who went to school for 6 years, and worked as teachers for years get passed over and their favorite union busting scabs get desk jobs. I thought these were super teachers that we needed so badly because the traditional teachers sucked so bad? Does not make sense, but Nazi Germany, and the USSR did not make much sense either.

Starting this year Per common core new graduation requirements students must complete 4 credit hours in math, pre-calculus or statistics, used to be 3 credits and 4 credits in science students must take physics.

I wouldn't put it past Martinez to do this. I also wouldn't put it past him to actually begin firing principals, some of whom should have been fired years ago.

They are not going to move their homegirls back to the classroom. They will go out an hire some $35,000 22 year old girls to sacrifice over and over every three years while these super- teachers continue to work behind a desk, or have other make-work jobs to keep them from being held accountable.
You are right count day is this Friday and the powers that be have already informed her that 20 per class is not going to cut it. The grade below hers has less than 20 per class and they will get rid of her and move a lower grade teacher up...

The remedy for this is to not get rid of seniority so CCSD can play even more evil games with their cronyism and non-merit based system they use. CCSD is not a meritocracy. If this teacher knew the right people she would not have been surplused, like the Mormon principal who surplused a math teacher to keep a fellow Mormon art teacher. The writer is correct "ccsd sucks" but not for the reason she cites.

Do you want an opportunity to take part in research that could positively impact your students and your classroom? By participating in our short survey, you will be helping us collect data for a study investigating obstacles and feasibility of psychological recommendations. Because these scenarios may be similar to what you have seen in your classroom, your input is very valuable! Once you complete the survey, you will be eligible for a $25 gift certificate to reallygoodstuff.com. Please feel free to pass this along to your teacher friends and co-workers as we need as many responses as we can get! All responses are completely confidential and participation is optional. Thank you!

So. First year teaching. It's awful, I have no life and try my best. It's only been 2 months and already know teaching is not for me at all! Has any other teachers resigned from CCSD? Or, anyone know how/where I can find information on if there are penalties for breaking the contract?
Look. I would really suggest pulling back to about 8 hours per day. What are they going to do? Fire you at the end of the year? Well, you want to quit and quitting a couple months into the year is worse than getting fired at the end of the year as far as getting another job. You might find out that you can do your job in a reasonable amount of time per day and get by. If they decide it isn't good enough, they'll let you know at the end of the year, but if it is good enough... you might be able to keep the career you went to school for.
One of the most toxic places in the school is a teacher's lounge. Stay away if you want a healthy life.

Hang in there. I wanted to quit my first year too but it gets easier. I have worked 20 years and love it now. Consider changing grades if it isn't working with the age you are teaching. You need one older positive teacher that can take you under their wing and show you how to cut corners and still be as productive. That stinks that you don't have resources.what grade do you teach? Have hope that it will get better and it will.
