I have posted before about possibly moving to Nevada so I can actually teach. I have also seen many horror stories of principals over stepping their boundaries. With this in mind, can anyone comment on particular schools that are good and or certain areas/regions that are decent. Thanks.
I am licensed in Illinois to teach K-9 with middle school endorsement for Math, Social Science, and Language Arts. I also have LBS I but do not think I want to be a special ed teacher after all. I would prefer elementary or middle school social studies or math.

Schools in Summerlin or the Green Valley area are your best bet for good schools. I work at Twitchell Elementary, which is one of the top schools in the district.
AnthonyTeach5, you are completely correct. And the principals have help from academic coaches, facilitators, lit. Specialists, teachers on special assignment, and sycophants in general.
Remember she gas to be interviewed like a new hire. They say there will not be any bad evals this year because the principals evils are based partly on the teachers. If she has not been told by one she must be getting a good eval. 15 times is ridiculous. If she is probationary be careful, they will just tell her they won't renew her contract.
I am seriously considering moving to Las Vegas in order to get a teaching job. Are the teachers treated fair and is the compensation adequate. Also, any ideas on best schools to apply at. Thanks

However you are subject to major penalties if you worked in a state like Nevada that doesn't pay into the system. I already mentioned those penalties.
It's really not worth working in these non-covered states if you have the 10 years in SS.
The offsets apply no matter how tiny the pension. I get just 312 from PERS, but I will still have 100 or more taken out of Social Security because of WEP.
I am hoping Congress will repeal the offsets, but I am not holding my breath.

My wife has now had her Principal in 3 times in the last week watching her. SHe was in tears when I got home the other night. That is 14 times so far this year and even teachers with over 15 years at her school are ready to walk out because it is happening to them also.

The seniority list was posted on Interact a week or so ago. That means that the transfer list will be out soon. 300+ schools in the district so she should be able to find a better situation.
“Part of our strategy has been to now shine a light on all underperforming schools,” Erquiaga said.
“Superintendent Skorkowsky and the Clark County School District are working hard in these underperforming schools,” Erquiaga said. “Our intention is to help them work even harder.”
Pedro Martinez, a former Clark County schools deputy superintendent who was forced out of his Washoe superintendent position by the elected School Board, was named by Sandoval to help with the initiative as a superintendent in residence with the Nevada Department of Education.
Erquiaga said the achievement district will require legislation, which has not yet been drafted.
“It’s critical that the existing school districts, families and communities work with the state department to improve these schools,” he said. “This is not an adversarial relationship. This is about improving the lives of generations of students.”
Nevada takeover to start with handful of low-performing schools
"Erquiaga said it will take time for the Education Department to recruit the charter management organizations that would oversee the achievement schools. There will have to be a long discussion with the families of students at the underperforming schools who might not support such a move, he said."
It makes me glad that I'm on the back side of my career and not just starting out.

Administrators are backed to the hilt. Fighting them is a lost cause.
