I was wondering if anyone out there knows of any schools looking for a German teacher or that might be looking for one in the near future. Some days this seems like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack, but I'm still hoping...Any suggestions will be welcome!

I noticed on the ODE website that Grove City High School is looking for a permanent sub in January 2010 ~ maybe it could work into full time. You could check.
The Montpelier Exempted Village Schools has an immediate opening for a 7th grade math teacher. Interested applicants need to hold an appropriate 4-9 math or 7-12 AYA math certification. Please email cover letter and resume to Dr. Jamison J. Grime at [email removed]

I have a question for anyone who has lived in Cleveland, OH over the past 10-15 years regarding a high level person in the mayor's office. She's now the super in our district and is quite the personality...in a Cruella DeVille sort of a way. Kathy

I am in the process of studying for the Praxis II and PLT. The Praxis test is pretty easy to study for, but I am totally stressing over the PLT. It has been 13 years since I graduated from college. I freeze at taking essay type exams. Does anyone have a strategy that helped you take and pass the PLT test? Can I just take the Praxis and get hired for a job or do I do both? The state said that in order for me to get a certificate like AZ, I had to do both. Also, why do I need to wait to submit my application for a certificate until I took the test?
Any suggestions would be totally appreciated. :) Hope everyone has a great holiday season.

I personally would teach in Ohio, because secondary schools are smaller like Liberty Center or Antwerp and do not have violence incidents. I would choose Ohio over West Virginia where secondary schools are huge and where violence (kids fighting and bomb threats) are common. I know this from experience.
Seriously though, there are some decent schools in OH; however, most of the schools here are subpar. It is incredulous with the teacher requirements that OH public schools are 40th or worse in the nation. A large part of it can be attributed to unions protecting terrible teachers. Most schools are filled with teachers that have no business teaching our youth. The school district I am in has atleast 4 social studies teachers (out of 6) that should be fired, but good luck with that. I am actually in favor of firing teachers who consistently post underwhelming student success numbers. Seniority rules while the kids lose...
