I saw a description for Bison on a forum much like this in which I am involved in. The teacher who wrote about it got me intrigued about this online tool, so I decided to give it a try.
Bison is basically a website that focuses on test questions that help students prepare as well as practice for state testing. The questions on Bison's site are similar to those on the state tests, allowing for great practice for students. Once you specify which state, grade and subject, you can then select what questions you want printed on a sample test.

I have the same experience and education as you, plus I am a published author. The charter school where I was working was shut down 2 years ago and I have been out of work ever since. Hopefully you will have a better experience than me, but understand that it won't come easy. You're going to have to fight hard and be proactive. Best of luck!

I have my teaching license and live in Columbus, OH. I have been subbing in the area for the past two years. It seems that every school wants experience but no one will give me a chance. Other than subbing and going to the schools web sites, are there any other ways to look for a job?
I've provided...See MoreWith the summer approaching, many teachers (myself included) are looking for convenient ways to knock out professional development requirements. I just found out about the availability of online courses though the university of phoenix and wanted to share my experience. It was easy and I received 6 semester hours in 8 weeks.
I've provided the contact info (below) for the guy that helped me out at University of Phoenix online in case you're interested in taking the same route. Good luck!
Dan VincentMay I suggest the following 2 links for Ohio Teacher PD 2 semester hours from either Ashland U or U of Akron. Online classes. 6 weeks. [link removed]

With teachers losing their positions, schools being consolidated, economic situations, and other important factors involved pertaining to the STRS of Ohio pension plan, what are your concerns?
Also...I am concerned (as an elective "easy to cut program"), that if I get cut and am unable to find another job....that the benefits I'm counting on will not be there. I have been teaching 7 years...and want to do it the rest of my career...but I'm counting on STRS's 35 year benefit plan for my retirement.

My union voted no...primarily because we are not in favor of merit pay. The HS and MS passed it...but all the elementary teachers voted...and all said no.

In round one, 266 of 614 districts signed on along with with 214 of 320 community schools
