There is a 6th grade position available at Slate Hill that I have applied for. I have been researching the position and the school and have fallen in love. It fits my licensure and beliefs exactly. I have not known an elementary here in Ohio to include 6th grade in elementary. Do you know the reasoning for the inclusion of 6th grade in the elementary? How is the class run, i.e. is it self-contained or do they rotate? Are the students treated more as adolescents or as children? If I were to get an interview, fingers crossed, what advice can you give?

I wanted the Kindergarten opening that was at Slate Hill but it is no longer posted and I never got an interview or heard anything. Didn't get so much as a rejection letter. Totally lost as to how to get a job with Worthington. So depressed.

I may have the opportunity to interview for a math position. I wondered if any Westerville teachers could give me advice for the interview? Also what math curriculum do they use?
I am looking for any teaching workshop and/or continuing education courses; I would like to start working on my necessary hours for my license renewal. Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you.
Please check out Instructional Delivery Services sponsored by Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio. The information can be found on Notre Dame College's website. They offer a variety of professional development courses specifically for teachers that need credits to renew their teaching license. I've taken 2 courses so far, and I enjoyed them very much!
I'm currently majoring in Education at KSU and was wondering if anyone had any insight on how standardized testing affects current jobs--any fear of being laid off due to poor outcomes on the test--and how doing poorly on the tests affects jobs for the future. I'm currently doing a research project so any information would really help a great deal. Thank you in advance.
I will be graduating from Bowling Green University with a li licence K-3 and the 4th-5th grade endorsement. I was wondering since finding a teaching job (anywhere) is difficult, would I be better off searching for a private or charter school teaching position or a public school position? Any advice would be great!!! thanks

If you are lucky enough to get a public school job offer in Ohio, don[t turn it down just because it isn't your preferred grade or area. Take what you can get!
I agree with the moving...We have sooooooo many Ohio natives down here. The fact is there are so many colleges/universities in Ohio cranking out teachers...there are just not enough jobs for them.

All I can say is - if you can't find a position your first year,...See MoreI completely agree with relocating. I am from OH originally and left after graduating from Ohio State in 2008. My wife and I will be returning now as she accepted a job just north of Columbus (Worthington) and I accepted a position in a position on the east side of Columbus.
All I can say is - if you can't find a position your first year, move away and work hard to build a resume. Get involved, lead organizations, coach, a be a leader! Honestly, that is what got me my position that I start next year!
Finally, DON'T SUB. Of my selling points in my interview with the committee when I was about "why I moved away" was because my professional goals required I have a full time job. It shows a lot about your dedication to the profession if you are willing to pick up and move like that.
