I am taking the OSAT for Biological Sciences next Saturday 7/19. I am so nervous about this test! I have to pass first try! I started studying from the XAM study book I bought. A lot of the stuff is coming back to me, but I hate genetics with a passion. In some of the practice tests I don't like the the questions such as, which one of these statements are False. What has been other people's experience with this test? And also the written response question, how hard is it? I took the OGET a few weeks ago. I haven't received my score yet and nervous about that.

I am getting ready to take my OSAT for Family Life Education (009) for my alternative certification. I am wondering how the exam is but mostly how the constructive response question is?
amandaCan you post your experience? I'm being ready to take this test in a few short weeks.

I have heard of places making contingency hires for a particular subject as long as the teacher is certified in something else, but never heard of it happening without any certification. Paraprofessional probably would not count as the base certification that would allow them to hire u with the contingency that u pass the specific osat and the oget. i believe you can still get alternatively certified if you pass the osat and oget, but fail the opte, but at some point u will have to pass the opte also.

I've noticed there's a few alternatively certified teachers on this board. What central Oklahoma or Tulsa area districts are friendly to those of us that obtained our certificate through the state's alternate route?
The Moore district is pretty keen on hiring alt. cert. teachers. I got hired within a couple of weeks, and my school has hired two alt. cert. teachers in the past couple of years. As long as you can prove you are qualified, a lot of principals are very open to alt. certification. They like that we have experience outside of the school environment.
