My agency is looking to find qualified, certified teachers. I was wondering if there are Teacher Career Fairs or Job Fairs that I might be unaware of. Do you know of any?
I am currently a federal employee looking to get into teaching by way of the Alternative Certication. I am curious to know if there are others who are currently working in the school system who have taken this route and if they can explain how the process worked for them.

Why do you want to leave the Federal workforce? I hear it pays well and good benefits as well.
I know resident teachers here are assigned a mentor teacher in the school and usually someone from the local college (I think?). In my district, they have to attend monthly meetings with all the resident teachers to discuss various topics. You are considered a 1st year teacher in regards to payroll. You'll have more scheduled observations than continuing teachers (there's no tenure), but those are easy!
Good luck!

StaceyYes it is paid. You teach just like normal you are just observed more often by a group of people. It is not bad. I just finished my resident year and unless you are a horrible teacher or have a god awful committee they will pass you. Just don't do anything unethical and just meet the requirements and you will be fine
I need to take the OSAT 50 & 51. Do I have to take both of these subtests at the same time or can I only take one and then another the next time it is offered?

Hi- I am looking for pen pals to write to who live in a rural community. I teach 12 first grade special education students in New York City. We'd love to hear about your lives, and tell you about ours. Thank you. Sharon
