I took over for a teacher who quit. Am teaching LD Math 7th 8th 9th. I am a retired elementary teacher (30 Years) Have decided to take the OSAT Mild Moderate Test. Can anyone help with exactly what I need to study? I would really appreciate any help.
I have my Eled degree, but love science. I thought I would try to take the mid level science test. I have downloaded the study guide from the certification website but I feel that it is too generic. Any suggestions on what else to study?

I just took the test on 2-9-08 it was a lot eaiser than the first time I took the test (November of 2008). Be sure to purchase the Xam-online book for Middle Level Science and READ the beginning of the book not the practice questions. The printable study guide from CEOE is not helpful. I will get my scores back on March 6th....I feel confident that I passed this go around.
We currently live in Ft. Worth but my husband is interviewing for a job in the Norman area. I grew up in Oklahoma City and taught in Edmond right out of college so I know about those districts, but don't know much about the Norman and surrounding districts. Any input would be great.

I am starting the process of Alternative Certification and am in search of the best online bank of Oklahoma open positions. Do I need to go school system - by - school system? Is there even a centralized bank?

I have also taken the Bio OSAT multiple times! The essay is a killer. This last testing period I finally feel "good" about the essay. I bought a study guide ... XAM Biological Science 010. It was like 75 bucks but I think it helped on the multiple choice questions. I think the essay justs takes getting lucky...asking a question from a subject you know really well! Good Luck!
I am beginning the alternative certification track. Although the basic Biology stuff is coming back from the deep dark reaches of the back of my mind, the essay sections of the practice tests I have tried so far are going to need some work. Those of us that have been writing bullets and abbreviated reports for the past 20 years seem to have lost the communication skills required for basic essay questions....
I will be taking the business test in a few months and I have not taken classes in 15 years. I have looked for study guides online but no luck! Has anyone taken the test lately or know where I might get a study guide?
I took the test about a year ago and passed. There really isn't a study guide other than the one online. Be sure and study the essay question example on the online guide. The one on the exam will be very similar. My recommendation is to pick up a basic book on accounting (review debits and credits etc.) My test didn't have a whole lot of accounting questions, but I've talked to others who said there were a lot on theirs. Most of the questions were pretty common sense. Review basic computer info like RAM vs ROM etc. also be familiar with NAFTA and other global organizations. Hope this helps don't stress to much.
You can check any local Barnes & Noble/Amazon/Borders, etc and find a resource called XAMonline.com - they've got everything from the OGET to the OPTE to any OSAT. The OGET book cost right at $30, but I think the OSAT tests might vary in price. Let me know how the test goes! I'll be taking the Business Ed test shortly after I finish the OGET (April 18)

OK - as a Biology/Chem major with a Masters in Chem, what are my chances of actually passing the OGET the first time? Should I spend all of my time studying for the OGET, taking the OSATs together and later. 20 years in the medical field may have atrophied the better parts of my brain!

what are teacher's rights when it comes to planning time during the school day? can secondary teachers expect preparation time during the school day? for example a 6 hour class schedule a teacher would get 1 class period for planning. what about a coach who coaches during 6th hour athletics? does a coach get a planning period?
