Anyone have any recommendations for how to go about studying this test? I passed the OGET, but didn't score very high on the Math portion(my worst subject). Can anyone comment on how the math on this exam compares to the math on the OGET? Any ideas about the essay question topic? Thanks.
I see "nowadays" one can take the tests on computer, rather than just the old scantron sheet. Question - is the essay also computer based? Or is it still handwritten? Seems ideas flow easier for me through the keyboard than by hand.

hsm/AmyI homeschool my kids. We live in Stephens County and there is a good support group here. If you live in my area, I would be glad to talk to you about your options. :) On 2/22/09, joi wrote: > I am looking for a person to help home school my > daughter,if interested please email me at triple- > [email removed]...
My two questions are: 1- does taking the business education certification...See MoreI have a BBA in Marketing. I've recently decided to go the alternative certification route and get certified in business education. After doing this and (hopefully) securing a teaching job, I'd like to go back to school and get a Masters Degree in Special Education.
My two questions are: 1- does taking the business education certification hinder me from finding a job in central OK quickly? 2- after graduating with the Masters in Special Ed (moderate to mild) will the Business Cert along with the Special Ed cert be enough to classify me as highly qualified?

************ Jessica,
Thank you for the response. I have since learned all of that after posting the question. So basically, I'll need to also get certified in an additional subject besides the Business, and/or also get certified in elementary education, too?
I think I'll probably go the math route in addition to business. Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate it!
Hello - I have recently received my Teaching License after passing all the necessary exams, review panel, etc. I now need to do my Resident Teacher year. Does anyone know if I can do my resident year at a Charter Schools? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Please take the time to look this over to see if any of it > applies to you or someone you know. Your View Counts Too! > I will post the results. > > Thank you so very, very, much. > E
I am scheduled to retake OGET in April. I ran out of time for the writing section. Are the questions all stating an opinion for or against an idea? Is there a certain about of word they are wanting on the subject? I need to pass this test!

When I took it a couple of years ago, it was the same type of question. It has always worked best for me to do the essay first before my brain gets fried from all of those multiple choice questions. Your essay doesn't have to be that long. Just make your argument for or against and use examples. They generally don't grade that harshly on the essays from my experience taking 5 tests including the OPTE. You can do it

Yes, I'm elementary. I'm doing the alternative certification thing and I've taken OSATs in Journalism, Elementary Education and Severe Profound disabilities. I only have 3 more college credit hours to fulfill all the requirements. It was definitely a relief to pass the OPTE! The OSATs that I've taken haven't been too bad. The essay question on each one has been very close to the one on the study guide. Good luck on the rest of your testing
On 3/...See MoreI did not pass the OPTE this time. I was wondering if the 6-12 opte was easier to take than the pk-8 grade opte. I' m alternatively certified and made it with flying colors through my entry level year, it stinks that I made a 238 on the pk-8 grade opte, anyone have any comments or suggestions how to pass would be greatly appreciated.

I too am seeking certification in Biological Science. I will graduate in May with my cellular biology degree from NSU. I am registered to take the osat next month. I am planning to get into the alternative certification program, and the administrators at my local school have advised me to ignore the application's instructions and have my exams taken before I apply to speed the process. I will be taking the OGET on the same day.
Anyway, one piece of advice would be to get the test prep book for the GRE Biology exam. It covers all of the major principals in detail. I have looked at the study guide for the osat and it looks to be pretty well on a high school level, so the GRE book might be a little advanced. Another thought would be an ACT prep book and study the science section. It might be more on the appropriate level. If there is anything else I can do to help just post a reply here and I will check back periodically.
