I remember there being a lot of graphing questions (slope, functions, etc). Not too much basic algebra, but more advanced algebra. There were a few sine/cosine/tangent questions that I wasn't prepared for..so brush up on that if you need to.
All formulas are provided and you get to use a calculator that they provided, so that helped.
Good luck!

The comprehensive information you have provided is extremely appreciated. Your in depth response gives me new hope that I may acquire a TPS teaching position. I no longer feel as cold! Cheers Comrade :)
They also have hired 75 Teach For America teachers that had to be placed. I have a friend who has been on the transfer list, and interviewed for a pre-K position in late May, early June. She was told that even though the principal wanted to hire her, her hands were tied because the TFA teachers had priority. My friend was just hired recently by another principal since I guess the TFA people had all been placed.
Does anyone know what the website is for finding out about the state certfication exam to be certified in Spanish? I already have a masters degree (not in Spanish) and an OK lIcense. Was wantIng to try and get certified in Spanish. Thank you.

No unfortunately I didn' t pass it on the first try, so I bought a book to study called praxis middle school math published by REA, and than studied the essay question provided by the CEOE studyguide. Make sure to study the essay, the question that was presesented on the OSAT was almost identical to the essay question provided by the CEOE. I would have passed the first time, if I would have studied for it.
Hopefully, I have passed the OPTE this time, I took it for the second time a couple of weeks ago. I should learn like my students to do well you have to put some effort into studying. LOL

Thanks - I'm a firm believer in the extra study guides. I used the Xamonline one for the OGET - and it overprepared me for it (which isn't a bad thing - ha). I might look into the praxis one, too.
I went the alternative certification route. However, I had an expedited interview so I didn't have one of the longer interviews. I was in and out in less than five minutes. Basically, he just asked where I wanted to teach and told me good luck. Wish I could be more help because leading up to my interview I looked everywhere for what questions they may ask and I couldn't find a thing.
This interview is the easiest part! They'll ask you questions like "Why do you want to teach?"
Just dress up, look nice, stay relaxed, and be open about why you really want to be in the world of education. My interviewer and I started talking about education and it was more of a conversation versus a real interview. You'll do fine.
How many people are on the panel for interview? Who are they? Are they officers in the Department of Education or K-12 teachers/administrators? Do I need to fill out any forms and sign? Do I need to swear before interview? What questions do they ask?
Like I told someone downthread, I did an expedited interview (this was in April 2007). So, I can't answer as to what questions are asked.
I can tell you that I talked to a principal or superintendent...I can't remember now. He was super friendly. I don't remember filling out any forms. I didn't swear beforehand. I can tell you that he was super friendly and good luck.
If he is trying to become alternatively certified, he has to obtain his initial license in the subject his degree is in before he can proceed to other endorsements.
