Where do I go to become a Para Teacher?

Does anyone know where to go to apply for a para teacher? I have to sit out this semester so I thought I could help teach. I would like Union. Do you make $10 an hour?

Mel I make $7.50 an hour. You need to take OGET or state para test. You have to be an assistant for a year, then you can apply for your para credential. Hope this helps.

7th & 8th Grades Combined in Self-Contained Class

I've been assigned to teach all subjects to 7th and 8th grades combined in a self-contained classroom. I anticipate having 20 students total and no teacher's aide. Does anyone here receive a notice for July and/or August panel interview for the alternative certification? What are those dates? Are there any specific days in each month for the interview? I am anxious about the interview timing ...

If you are getting ALTERNATIVELY CERTIFIED and you plan on taking the Early Childhood Development test, Elementary Education test, or the Special Education test - you MUST do it and have it completed before November 1st. how to request license

I interviewed with TCRP in June and assumed I would receive something in the mail with information on how to receive my license, but I have not received anything yet. I've emailed the state dept. and have called, but their phone is always busy. Anybody know if I missed a step somewhere?

Anyone have any suggestions to improve score on the Spanish OSAT? I scored a 220, but need a 240. I went blank on the speaking portion, which is something I usually have no problem with in one on one conversation. In fact, most native speakers that are just meeting me believe I am native as well. Martha If your speaking skills are good, your score may be due to test anxiety. Now that you are familiar with the format of the test, just brainstorm possible conversational scenarios that might appear on the test and practice into a tape recorder.

Getting hired in January

I recently completed my alternative certification in Business Education (because of my degree). I've not had much luck in the last few weeks finding a job in the Business Education field, and my plan is to get certified this fall in Intermediate Math...

So my question is - does anyone ever see teachers get hired mid-year in January?
