Does anyone know where to go to apply for a para teacher? I have to sit out this semester so I thought I could help teach. I would like Union. Do you make $10 an hour?

Does anyone here receive a notice for July and/or August panel interview for the alternative certification? What are those dates? Are there any specific days in each month for the interview? I am anxious about the interview timing ...
OH - I was told by the SDE that they only do them once a month - but I could have been misinformed, or they could be doing them more often as the school year sneaks up on us. Sorry!

Thank you guys so much! I do have one question, what kind of stuff do you have to write about? What kind of topics do they give you?

Well my topic was "Should High School dropouts lose their privilege to have a driver's license." You had to either persuade for or against. Good luck!
How does this affect those of us who don't graduate (with an elementary education degree) til this December? Since we're not certified at all, does that mean we can't become certified in early childhood or special ed even if we pass the test prior to November 1st?
I interviewed with TCRP in June and assumed I would receive something in the mail with information on how to receive my license, but I have not received anything yet. I've emailed the state dept. and have called, but their phone is always busy. Anybody know if I missed a step somewhere?

I would keep calling them. I had my TCRP interview in July, and I received a copy of my certificate about two weeks later. (The State Board of EDU had to approve me at their board meeting, and then after that, I received my certificate shortly after).

I recently completed my alternative certification in Business Education (because of my degree). I've not had much luck in the last few weeks finding a job in the Business Education field, and my plan is to get certified this fall in Intermediate Math...
So my question is - does anyone ever see teachers get hired mid-year in January?
There appears to be a strong need for educators who are certified in Math. However, several factors may have a negative impact upon your aspirations. If you are making application within the greater Tulsa area, the utilization or outsourcing of 75 TFA 'teachers' within TPS has compromised many teachers ability to secure jobs. As a result, greater Tulsa schools are inundated with applicants and it is difficult to obtain interviews for positions of interest. However, do not lose hope and never give up! Anything is possible with the ever changing events in local public education.
Write a letter to a scholarship committe for a scholarship to study abroad for a year and what you would accomplish and then describe what you would bring back for your students.
The other I had was to describe an auto accident in a spanish speaking country from the viewpoint of talking with the police about the accident.
I've come close to passing the test within 4 points and still can't hack it. Even after a trip to Spain for the summer! This will be my 7th time and I hope this time, I make it.
Do you have a tutor or someone that you can work with on practice writing an draft to follow in your head?
That's what I'm doing this time, it's what I used to do in my college Spanish classes before my exams there. Graded, I had materials I could use during those exams, like the books we were reading or the an outline of potential essay topics over a certain country etc.
Good Luck, I'll be at EC this saturday as well.
