I hope that your 2016-2017 school year has gone well. I am a new community coordinator for PAX (Program of Academic Exchange). I am currently looking for new host families who would be interested in sharing our great state with a student for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year. I am looking for homes in Eastern Oklahoma within about a 100 mile radius of Tulsa. Thank you in advance for any help you may provide.
I have a business admin degree and I'm trying to find out what OSAT I need to take in order to teach k-8 computer classes. Does that fall under Business OSAT or Computer Science OSAT or so other OSAT. I've asked several people and no one can seem to give me an answer. Any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated.

I purchased the study guides off of eBay. I went the alternative certification route, but I was an education major in college 35 years ago. The OPTE has quite a bit of educational theory and practice in it. I think the practice tests that come with the study guides helped me more than the actual study guide.

The Cirrus Test Prep offers a great PRE-K through 8th for Opte , however I took the practice test that you can pay for on the CEOE website for Opte and it was the most helpful. For OSAT, it depends on what OSAT! I do not recommend the MOMETRIX anything, they have old information and do not have good examples of practice questions. For OSAT and OPTE, study their example essays and adopt a similar formatting. Use lots of terminology that demonstrates your background knowledge of theories and practice in that field.
I took my m/m disabilities test and did not pass the constructed response portion. I thought I presented the correct information on reading comprehension but apparently not! Has anyone taken the test lately and have any suggestions. Thanks.

Hi Mary, I'm taking the M/M exam Aug 5 and was hoping you could pass along some tips for studying for the exam. The Spec Ed teacher I work with has been helping me, but any insight you can offer, especially with the comprehension, would be a great help.

After you apply for a teaching certificate through the state, they will tell you which OSAT to take for your chosen certification. If you are wanting to get alternatively certified, see the State Department of Education under certification to see how to apply.
I am currently a kindergarten teacher under emergency certification. I have 2 kids and I'm living with and taking care of my mom with Alzheimer's. Haven't had any time to study, but I'm taking the EC OSAT Thursday. Any specific subject matter I should study? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I'm curious as well. I wanted to go that route, but was afraid of bombing with no prior education experience and ended up doing a year as a para (this year) and am still trying to pass my OPTE and Early Childhood. I failed one of them both already and darn sure don't have the money to keep failing it on a para salary! I passed the OGET (barely) just with common sense but not so much with the other two. I hate that Oklahoma lets you alternatively teach and then offers zero assistance on how to get there.
Took my OGET this morning and I'm very nervous about how I did. I think I'm going to worry myself sick waiting on the results. Has anyone ever gotten results back sooner than the actual expected date?
I graduated college 14 yrs ago with a History degree. I'm wanting to get certified in Oklahoma. Can someone help me get started? Are there study groups or material I can get to help me?
Look at the OK Board of Education Website. You'll definately have to take the history exam. If you've never taken any teaching classes, you'll have 3 years to complete 12 hours.
I got emergency certified. I passed my OGET, I'm taking my OSAT Thursday and haven't taken my OPTE yet. I hope you did well on your OPTE! Have you taken your OSAT? Was it EC? Anything I need to particularly study? Have been teaching kinder in Tulsa, with the "wonderful" curriculum we have and me having to take care of my mom with Alzheimer's and my own 2 kids, haven't had much time to study! YIKES
