Have you looked at the changes coming to the National Standards? The state department website has a correlation chart from PASS to NATIONAL STANDARDS. Looks like it's time to start phasing in the changes. What is your district doing to prepare for the change?

One year ago, I decided to quit my corporate job and pursue my dream of teaching. I acquired my job through promotions and never finished (or barely started) my degree. I most would like to teach in a middle school setting, and while math is my favorite subject I am not confident that I can complete the course requirements for a degree in math education. I also enjoy social studies but I am afraid that a job teaching social studies will be hard to come by. If I am unable to teach middle school, I would like to teach elementary school, 4th or 5th grade. I just finished my first year at OCCC where I plan to complete my basics and finish my degree at UCO with a bachelor's in Elementary Education. I know some states allow for a middle school endorsement but cannot find any information on this regarding teaching in Oklahoma. Sorry for the long background but my question is this: If I get my degree in Elementary Education, are there steps I can take to be able to teach in middle school also - either as a backup plan or as my primary objective? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Lindsey, I will be taking the oget soon, too. I am soo scared!! Have you taken the OPTE yet? I am doing alternative certif. and so scared of these tests
I am taking OPTE 075 soon and getting nervous! Any suggestions? I ordered a study book on Amazon. The writing parts look a little long and brutal. ANY input would help! Thank You!
I have my degree in a totally unrelated subject and was testing to get my alternative teaching certificate. I took my OGET and OPTE the same day and passed. I do have teachers in my family but havent taken any teaching classes since the 80's. Don't be scared of it, but prepare for essays. I think the OPTE might have had 3.
I am preparing for the OSAT Early Childhood test but the study guide provided by the CEOE does not have subject knowledge in it. It is just a list of competencies that the test covers. Does anyone kow where I can find a good book that has the subject knowledge for the competencies contained in the test? Thanks.

No calculators are not allowed for the OGET, but the formulas are provided. As long as you add, subtract, multiply, and divide you will be fine.
