I am moving to Oklahoma in the next month and was curious about the resident teaching program. I have a degree in Early Childhood Education, which constitutes as Elemetary Ed. there. I have no teaching experience and a teaching certificate in the state I live in. I was told I had to apply for a one year license and participate in the resident teaching program. For those who have participated in it, and are planning to, can you tell me the specifics on the program. Are you considered a first year teacher or an apprentice? Are you paid, the starting salary? Will they hire resident teachers in the middle of the year or the beginning? And I will be moving to Broken Arrow, so for those in that area or the Tulsa area, which school district is willing to hire the most? I appreciate any questions that can be answered and any information/advice I can get. Thank you!!!!

Stacey Yes it is paid. You teach just like normal you are just observed more often by a group of people. It is not bad. I just finished my resident year and unless you are a horrible teacher or have a god awful committee they will pass you. Just don't do anything unethical and just meet the requirements and you will be fine
