I am looking to change careers, graduated from college with an art degree and would love to teach! Any Oregon teachers out there that can give me the run down of what certificates I need? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!
You may have never heard of me, but I am Steven Robert Heine, an Oregon poet. I am better known in other parts of the World than I am in Oregon. All I have done in Oregon is to direct poetry projects at Fairs for 25 years and bring reading and literature to people who have never taken time to enjoy it before. I have created a free site of my poetry as a resource for you to use in your classroom. I hope you'll be curious to give it a read. My best to your students.
I would like to find out about teaching in Oregon. I would like to get in contact with an experienced teacher who can give me the real "low down" about teaching in your state. I have often visited this chatboard, but haven't really found any postings that address my concerns. My husband and I are considering a move to Oregon, probably somewhere along the coast. (We have family in the area.) We are both expereinced teachers, and would greatly appreciate getting in touch with someone who has taught in Oregon for more than a couple of years. (Perhaps a union rep, lead teacher, mentor, etc. ) thanks for any help you can send our way!

Hi there, I have a website for working with students who often experience anger. Check it out, and let me know what you think! If you're a counselor/psychologist type, or if you just have a lot of experience teaching anger management, feel free to add your own ideas. I'm always looking for additional material from other professionals in the business. Just click on the "Feedback" section once you get there. Let me know what you think!
Hi, I am currently teaching in Georgia. We have been informed that we can get a large amount of money for Reading First. However, to get the money we must adopt a new reading series. We just adopted new books last year and here we are chosing another book. We are also informed that you have a University that is the place a lot of the information is coming from. We are going to be giving the Dible test. What is this test? How is it administered? How much information can you get from the test? What reading series do most of the schools use. We are currently using Saxon Phonics and we love the results. We have kids that are reading before they leave kindergarten. If you have any information please share. Thank you, Georgia Kinderteachers
I have a liberal Arts degree from Oregon, and would like to pursue a master in teaching with a teachers certificate. I am wondering if any one could give me some info. on the advantages and disadavtages of teaching in Oregon and teaching in WA. It will be much helpful for me to deside if I should pursue my master degree in Oregon or WA.

My Bachelors earned at Central Wash Univ was twice the work of my Masters obtained at Western Oregon UNIV. Probably harder to find a job in Oregon, but pay is generally higher than Wash, especially subbing. Oregon pays its subs better than any other state.
