Is anyone currently using the Everyday math curriculum? What is your opinion of it? Do you like or dislike it? My district has adopted this program and I am interested to find out if any other districts in the state have it and if it has been successful.
I am finishing a BA in Education with endorsements in Language Arts and ESL. I prefer language Arts but doing ESL on the side in case I cant get a LA job right away.
I am wondering if I should do a masters in English or Linguistics. I feel that if I do it in Education I would be taking almost the same classes.

hahaha...Thats what I thought. I dont want the same redundant classes I took as an undergrad. So, what would you do if you were in my place?

I'm moving back to Oregon after about 8 years away. I have an Reading Specialist MA and 6 years in public schools as a certified Reading Specialist/ Title 1 teacher in New York City. Middle school, 6-8.
Anyone have any idea of the demand for Reading teachers? I see many vacancies on edzapp.com, but perhaps they are old postings? How competitive are the Reading jobs?
Any other insights on the status of reading jobs would be appreciated.

Go to SimplyHired.com or just google Title One Reading Specialists. I found lots of openings.
My boyfriend wants to move to Oregon (Eugene area) to be near family. I am a teacher who has been out of school for three years and can't find a job. I work as an aide for two years and there have been no openings. I've checked out the public school websites and there aren't that many jobs. I was hoping for some advice/suggestions from Oregon residents and teachers. If I moved there would I be able to find a job? If I can't work there then I don't think it would be wise to move. Help! Thanks
I would say apply for jobs here but if you have a job where you are and you are comfortable there stay.

I am a first grade teacher in Illinois and I am looking to have my class connect with a first grade class in Oregon to talk about the similarities and differences between our communities. Please let me know if you are interested.

Hi, i am in CA right now and as i understand it, once i pass the CBEST i can apply to be a Substitute teacher. My question is: How does it work in OREGON? I'm sure some of you at least have been one in the past. I also have a B.A. in psychology. I am hoping to do this in my "retirement" years. Any help greatly appreciated.
