Hi! I am a teacher in North Carolina (3rd grade). My husband and I are seriously considering relocating to Oregon (Eugene or Portland areas). I would greatly appreciate information regarding the likelihood of finding a teaching job. Are teaching jobs readily available, or difficult to find? What do I need to do to teach in Oregon? My certification area is PreK-6. My husband is also a teacher, certified in the areas of HS Biology, and MS Science. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer us!! :-)

Hello, I am a recent graduate of a small teachers college in Morehead Kentucky. I am originally from Kentucky, and I want to return home desperately to teach. My husband will graduate from college in a year, at which time we would like to return home. Is there any need for teachers right now? My family lives in Lake Oswego, but I don't know if there is a need there either. Please give me an update!
I actually teach P/T (20 hrs.) in a very small program at my church. We have been blessed to have the same teachers since I've been there (4 years). No, we don't have any teaching openings! I wish I could be of more help to you!
Melissa, This is a rough time for Oregon and being a teacher. I stated in another post that our school will face MAJOR cuts of staff and programs. Your best bet is to search the school district websites. They should have current job openings. This year I don't expect that many schools will be hiring until late August unless it is a mandatory position (special ed, etc.). Hopefully next year will be better. I am a contacting you from England and I wonder if you could help me.
Could you please tell me, do teachers write summer end of year reports to parents in your country.
If so, what format are these in and do they reflect the entire years subjects taught or are they a more general summary of a child’s year and achievements.
that it can't make education a priority? I have been reading newspaper websites from Oregon, and it looks like it will be yet another terrible year for education in the state.
Classes with 30 or more students, school districts reducing teaching positions by 10 percent, what in the world is wrong with Oregon elected officials?
It looks like I am going to be stuck here in Nevada for another year if the job situation is as bad up there as has been reported.

I teach three sections of Classroom Structure/Behavior Management at a small college and I am looking for early childhood (primary) classroom teachers who are willing to participate in an "e" project in the fall semester, becoming an e-pal with one of my pre-service teachers, discussing classroom management strategies/philosophies/approaches that work/have not worked in your classroom. This would involve between 4-6 e- mail responses to my students about classroom management. At the end of the project, I would also like to know if this experience has been useful to you (reflective, metacognitive??). Want to be an e-pal for a semester??
Many of you may be in the same position that I am - left with a little bit of extra time during the summer and slightly underpaid throughout the year :) . I have found a terrific company that promotes a personal and environmental wellness line while compensating you for using their products and introducing them to others. It is NOT multilevel marketing! The company follows a consumer direct marketing approach while providing customers with safe, nontoxic, environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional household products.
