Hello, Things sound bad. My husband and I hope to move to Portland next fall. I'm hoping that with a HS Sp Ed degree and minor in math I might find something? Do you think I might? Ideas?
Hello. I am an inspirational author and speaker who recently published his memoir. It is spiced with blunt honesty and biting humor. My story in a nutshell:
Although I had to overcome years of countless and extreme adversities, I still have great zest for life. Before we were twenty years old, my brother and I endured war, killer illnesses, starvation, homelessness, floggings, abandonment, exile and slavery. But by the time we were thirty-some years old, something had seriously gone wrong with us. We had stubbornly worked our ways through college, married, and had become American citizens and world travelers.

Ct sixth graders will be doing a month long unit on the Japanese internment. I am looking for teachers who are in areas which once had the internment camps who can correspond or supply additional interesting information on the topic. The students are always amazed that such an injustice could happen to American citizens. It is an eye opener for the students and many times their pa
Susan...do some research using a search engine on the topic of Japanese internment. Cursorily I just did one and came up with over 150 hits. E-mail me and I'll try to copy them for you if you don't have the time.

I just graduated in political science from WOU, and just wrote a paper on Japanese-American internment. One of the best sources I used was a documentary on OPB, entitle "Concience & Constitution". If you go to the OPB webiste and look for this video, it should help out a lot. Might possibly be too indepth for 6th graders, but might give you (as the teacher) some ideas. Website also has lots of primary sources and documents. For a copy of the video, contact Willamette U.'s library.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to INKBANK Cartridge Recycling Fundraising Programs ([link removed].
If your school is not currently recycling inkjet and laser cartridges, you may be missing out on one of the most lucrative fundraisers ever. If you are recycling, we hope your experience has been financially rewarding. I would like to invite you to visit our website as http://WWW.INKBANK.COM and see our current cartridge values, our “5 Minute Crash Course on Cartridge Recycling”, and see how we are making a difference across North America in financially supporting the PTO/PTA effort and protecting the environment.
Just a note to let you know I have more than fifty classic short stories at my site. These are public domain stories for you to use as you like and include many classics for teenagers ("The Scarlet Ibis" and several by Poe.) I also have lots of writing prompts. Hope the site is useful to you.
If you are willing to send me your school's CAM strands in Arts and Communications I would REALLY appreciate it as I am trying to formulate various program configurations for Speech and Communication and Speech and Drama and possibly other options in the A&C area.
I would love to see what other schools are doing. My e- mail is attached so you can send info that way or by FAX to 503-359-2521.
I need help. I am a student teacher in Las Vegas, NV. I will officially be liscenced in May 2003. My fiance lives in Oregon, Mid-Willamette Valley area, and I am planning on moving up there this coming summer. I am scared, since I am a first year teacher, that there won't be any jobs available. I hear Oregon is having a rough time right now with budget cuts. Does anyone have any suggestions for me on what to do about this problem. How do I go about getting a job there? Are they hiring? Any useful information or phone numbers would be greatly appreciated.
Jen---Try to relax! The Oregon School Personnel Association has a Teach Online Teacher Application System (TOAS). TOAS utilizes an online database to facilitate connecting teachers who are looking for jobs with school districts who have positions to fill. Teachers who wish to apply for teaching positions in Oregon may now do so electronically for a small fee. Each application will be automatically distributed to as many or as few member school districts in the state as the applicant desires. TOAS can be accessed on their web page at the following URL: [link removed].
Try that and let me know how you do. I've posted mine that way and do have an interview mid-December in Bend.
Get a map out and look at the towns in the Wilamette Valley and get your resume/application out to them as well. Shoot for subbing and then work into the big leagues.
Short-term (3 or 4 weeks, summer) or long-term teaching posts available in several locations in PRChina. Emphasis is on conversational English. The schools provide a salary, free housing, and more. I've done this twice and found it both rewarding and fun. For more infor, email [email removed]
