I have one more question--does SC have a ESL/ELL endorsement/add-on to the teaching certificate? I have some experience in this area, and would like to follow up on it.

Just my two cen...See MoreConsidering the MASSIVE budget cuts that many school districts are experiencing, your Ph.D. may, unfortunately, hinder your job search primarily because you require more pay. Many school districts would probably love to hire a Ph.D., but may not because oftentimes, they can hire two teachers with a Bachelor's vs. one Ph.D.
Just my two cents...

I wonder how a teacher who does not currently teach ESOL students does the practicum? Do they have to quit their job and go back to school?

How is RtI being implemented in your school? What are the intervention programs you are using for Tier 2 interventions? Do you see more or less students being screened and tested for Special Ed services?
Anyone hear about this- it was on NPR. They want to freeze our salaries AND eliminate the $7500.00 stipend for new NBCTs. Any teacher that voted Republican deserves what they get.

No, I do not think they will suspend them in SC -- too hard to get teachers to stay as it is. that is what CERRA is all about, trying to retain teachers in SC. They KNOW in Columbia that the stipend is a godsend for many teachers and I have a feeling it will stay - otherwise many good teachers will move elsewhere, if possible. There will be a real roar if it were happen as in SC there are many NB's - just my thoughts, however.
I have one more question--does SC have a ESL/ELL endorsement/add-on to the teaching certificate? I have some experience in this area, and would like to follow up on it.
