Illegal Judicial ActivismThe court overstepped its constitutional duties. The legislature and the executive branch are the ones that are supposed to decide where and how money is collected. The judicial branch is supposed to interpret the law. What law was involved here? Sigh. Judicial activism at its worst.
My husband was just contacted by a principal from a high school in Greenville for a science position. Can anyone tell me what the cost of living is like in Greenville and also the pay. He will be a second year teacher.
RobinsonzooYou need to use a cost of living calculator to figure out cost of living because I don't know where you are starting from. Have him poke around the Greenville website. Personally I am trying to get a job in Greenville County Schools right now. I'm from Michigan and there is not much going on here. My hisband lost his job in January and has been unable to find a new one. He was associated with GM. I was laid off effective June 16th with little chance of recall, they laid off my whole district with the expectation being that 130 out of 480 teachers would be permanently laid off.So we are trying to make a new start somewhere new. Best of luck to you. Lorretta On 6/12/09, DLJ wrote: > Hi: > > My husband was just contacted by a principal from a high > school in Greenville for a science position. My certification is up for renewal next year. I know I need 120 ceu hour or semester hours. The question is how many graduate semester hour do I have to complete? Is it 3 or 6 semester hours? Thanks.
I need someone to help me please understand the SC certification renewal process. I am not from SC but my certification needs to renewed in 1 year. I have called the state department and they told me I have to take either 6 semester hours (which I cannot afford) or earn 120 renewal credits. I thought renewal credits was the same as ceu's and I was told that the state department does not accept ceu hours! I was on the Trident Technical college website and under ceu's there was teacher education courses. I was told that if I take one of the courses I can earn 2.4 ceu credits. Is 2.4 ceu credits the equivalent to 20 renewal credits? Also, my certification area is special ed and the state department told me that my course work has to be in special ed or computers. I saw a ceu course in classroom management and I don't understand why that course would not meet my certification renewal. I would appreciate if somebody out there who understands this process please explain it to me. By the way, I know people say why not ask my district but I am not working any district. Right now I just substitute teach.

If you take a class that usually gives you 1 credit, it is equivalent to 20 points. In other words a 3 hour course in college would be worth 60 renewal credits. You also get points for various things you might participate in (workshops, getting our technology certificate etc. You might want to check on the State Department of Education for Sc to see a list of what you can get points for. Check some of the technical colleges curriculum. They're usually quite a bit cheaper than a university. Good Luck.

Keep trying cerra.org. And be sure to call and ask to find out if they are just holding off on hiring.

Will try to contact school principals regarding openings to forward a resume. Do you think this is a good way to proceed? I have recently been cerified through the Pace Program to teach at the High School and Middle School level in the state of South Carolina. Its been slow going finding a district to work for. Are there teachers currently seeking or working under this program.
