I recently applied for a Middle School Elish/Lanuage Arts position and was told that the position was recently filled but that a opening for a Reading Teacher was still available if I was qualified. Im wandering is the ELA certification good enough for this position or is it considered a specialty field and needed additional training.
This survey concerns all teachers; novice and veteran.
Please take time to complete this survey. It is for a thesis statement. I would appreciate your thoughts and opinions. Results will be posted at the end of July, 2009.

Im waiting to hear from two or three districts about ELA and Middle school Language Arts. Can anyone fill me in on how soon teacher positions will have to be filled before there school year starts? I have been told that some districts are going to have to fill positions late because of funds.
Yes, most districts will begin to hire within the next 2 weeks or so, due to the stimulus funding situation. However, there still aren't many positions b/c although we will recieve stimulus money some districts will still have a smaller budget. At my school in Richland School District 2, this is the first year that we are only replacing 2 teachers- one moving, the other going to stay home with kids. In the past we have always hired at least 5-10 teachers but b/c of the recession no one wanted to transfer or retire. Good Luck!!
I passed the Elementary K-6 PLT test 0522, however I am wondering if I also need to take the 5-9 Middle level PLT (0523) for professional certification? When I spoke to SCDOE, the rep stated that I only needed to take one test of my choosing. However, upon speaking to others I have been told that I might have to take the 5-9 Middle level PLT (0523). If anyone could answer I would greatly appreciate it.
What parks/beaches/outdoor attractions should we visit? I've just heard how beautiful your state is, so I'm trying to make sure we get to see her in all her glory. We do primitive camping when we camp. While we won't have time to do a multiple day hike, I'd love to go explore a bit of nature for part of the stop. Or if there is a certain activity (we rock climb, white water raft, etc) that would be adventurous, I'm open to suggestions.
Thank you to anyone who replies. I know this board isn't the proper forum, but on the Texas board we sometimes get questions like these, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

great teachI don't know about any districts but mine. But in richland district 2, I have heard that we will get it on the 14th or 17th. We have never gotten it before the tax free weekend.

Yes, it is always after the tax-free weekend, but I never want to shop then anyway. I avoid it the same way I avoid the malls on the day after Thanksgiving - the stores are much too crowded!
