The Adept evaluation system according to the SCDE is unique to SC, but my viewpoint of this system's "uniqueness" is that it has been around for a long time and is a Trojan horse type of uniqueness. Other than being highly destructive, divisive, extremely costly and immoral the ADEPT system has no other unique features or benefits. The first object...See More

I am a first year teacher in SC, but come here from another state w/7 years experience. In my previous state, you could terminate your contract with just cause without worry of having the certification revoked. I am wondering if it is the same here. I am in CCSD and I am looking into the possiblity of leaving my contract after the Christmas break. ...See More

good luck Unfortunately if you have not worked for a year you are not covered under the act

Sandra CCSD sucks! I worked for them a few years ago and broke my contract due to illness. If you are sick the contract can be broken (read the terms). I am now better in terms of my health and in a better district.

I would love to go back to school to get my teaching license. I already have an undergraduate degree. If I go back to school I would like to get my Masters degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education. Are there any online programs in SC for this type of degree? Or are there any out-of-state that you would recommend? Thanks for your ...See More

I need a current ADEPT evaluator's training manual. Contact me if you have one that you are willing to release.
kteacher I'm going through the evaluation process. It is no longer called ADEPT but SAF-T. The process is quite different from the ADEPT process. And I hear it will get even stricter next year. I think it is crazy, unfair, etc. that a teacher can miss 2 points under a 12 point domain, and not meet the SAF-T requirements. Even if all other Domains are comple...See More

    What do substitute teachers make?
SC Teacher No More Each district sets their own pay rate for substitute teachers. Check with the Human Resources department in the district(s) you are interested in subbing. Sometimes they also have this information on their websites.

A highly qualified SC math teacher learned the hard way today that certain high officials in the ADEPT section of SCDE are refusing to answer the hard questions about the ADEPT evaluation system. The teacher in this report has well over twenty years experience teaching and additional experience as a senior research scientist in mathematic assessmen...See More

Theodore A. Jones Every teacher employed in a SC public school is under a contract. Since they are under employment by a contract they are no longer employed at the employer's willfulness to retain them. The employer who employes by contract also concedes to the terms and condition the contract specifies. However in dear ol'e SC things are not that cut and dried. Te...See More
