Does anyone know if these events truly result in hirings over the next few months, or would I have just as good a chance of applying to openings when they are posted? I have 12 years experience and a SC license.

I wanted to know if other districts are cutting retirees' pay 20%. With 6 1/2% going into retirement and 20% cut, our district expects us to do our same job, duties, etc.AND the 5 days! Please let me hear from some that are facing the same type cuts. Thanks!

I am a curriculum coordinator in Texas. I am always looking for ways to help teachers make sense of our standards. While browsing the SC Department of Education website, I found the documents linked below.
They looked to me like they would be very helpful to teachers, but I would really like input from real teachers in the proverbial trenches.
There is an education rally this Wed. at the state house on the Gervais side beginning at 4:30. I hope everyone is planning to attend. This is an opportunity for educators to make their voices heard.
I am going over my scores and feel like my students have made a wealth of growth this year, but am looking for some validation. I've seen the "typical growth" reported by the NWEA website and the RIT band grade equivalency, etc.

So, generally the students do well in the winter, but sometimes drop in the spring. My average RIT for reading was about a 220-230 and most students met their goal or missed it by a couple of points but I only teach 5th grade reading.
