Opinions about Merit Pay????

What do y'all think about this? I worry b/c there is much good ol' girl/boy favoritism that goes on in my area: admin pick and choose particular students in favored teachers' classes. Any other thoughts?

Sue It is true - people with less experience and abilities are evaluating others/ strife/ favoritism/ TAP teachers being out of the room a lot/ unfair

Art Lader Good question. I think it's an interesting idea and I am open to it.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a system that is truly fair, though? One that really works for students and teachers. I am not aware of a merit pay program that truly works, but that obviously does not mean that no such program exists. I am familiar with TAP, but...See More

TechnoMage Merit pay is not a good idea. IMHO Sorry, but I am the best teacher I can be given all my human shortcomings. I work in my own way, at becoming the best teacher I can. Who can say I don't? There are teachers doing all manner of things in the name of being "the best", and mostly putting down other teachers not doing what "they" do. IMHO, merit pay b...See More
