If you are planning on leaving South Dakota to come to Nevada, check out Teachers4Change...... You need to get the facts regarding the Silver State before you come here......
I am starting a post card exchange for the 2007-2008 school year. We will start mailing out postcards September 10th and have them all mailed out by April 1st. I will email you a list of participants by August 27th with the addresses.
I want this to be a learning experience for my students. They will experience writing addresses and they will learn the locations and a few facts about each state. You can send pre-made postcards or make them yourself.
Once I get the list of participants (with their school addresses) I will mail one to everyone on the list. Each class would send a postcard to everyone on the list. So, by the end of the exchange, your class would send a postcard to hopefully every state and receive one from every state too! The real purpose is to have a fun way to study each state.
Please keep in mind that if you decide to drop out of the exchange, you need to let me know so the students are not disappointed. I want this to be an awesome experience for our students so, please sign up for our exchange.
Email me your name, address, email address, and state if you would like to join. You can participate from any grade level. [email removed]
Please join!! Here are the states we still need! Delaware Hawaii Idaho Iowa Kansas Louisiana Maine New Mexico Rhode Island South Dakota Utah Vermont Washington West Virginia Wisconsin
Email me if you would like to join! [email removed]
Does anyone know of a Wireless Pocket PC/PDA that will run Infinite Campus? I am a Physical Education teacher so I am not at my desk to begin class each period or interact with IC at all during class. I would like to fine something portable to use other than a laptop.
Try asking Campus, I'm sure they'd know what products will run their software.

Thanks for reading my post! DonorsChoose.org is a simple way to fulfill needs and foster innovation in our public schools. At this nonprofit website, teachers submit ideas for experiences and materials that their students need to learn. These ideas become reality when concerned individuals, whom we call Citizen Philanthropists, choose projects to fund. DonorsChoose.org has raised and directed more than $14 million to classrooms.
My class will be reading the story the Gingerbread Man and doing a project with it. I am asking if anyone would mind assisting with this... if you would like to please email me at [email removed].
Project letter: My name is the Gingerbread Man, my friend in CLass 2H was reading a story about me and i jumped out of the storybook to visit you. My friend at school is wondering where I have run to. Please help them by sending them a picture postcard showing them the area where you live. This postcard will be posted on a large map of the world outside of my classroom. This will help the children by showing them how different parts of the world look. I know my friends will enjoy hearing from you and learning where I have run! Thank you for your help! Got to go! The Gingerbread Man

Found a fantastic new chapter-book series for ages 7-9 that the kids in my class are thrilled about. It's called the Incredible Journey Books and it has fast-paced worldly adventures filled with geography facts. The plots are interesting and the series has done the trick to get my third-grade class interested in exploring the world map. The books have a great site that has an Africa unit along with puzzles to go with each book. Go to [link removed].
I am a certified special education teacher. After a year of teaching in an Alaskan bush village, I had to return to the Lower 48 due to family health issues. I enjoyed working with the native children in Alaska, but must remain in the Lower 48 for now. I am considering teaching in South Dakota because of the large native population. I would love to hear from anyone who is currently teaching on a reservation or in a school that has a large native population. What are your experiences- both good and bad? Would you recommend that teachers come to your state to teach? Why or why not? Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and Happy New Year to you all!
