Katy, I'm visiting here from the Iowa chatboard. I teach in Sioux City. We lived in Sioux Falls in the mid-70's. My kids went to Laura Wilder and South Sioux School. When we lived out in the Kingswood area, they were building a new school at the end of our block. Unfortunately we were transferred to Minneapolis before it opened. The kids were bussed to So. Sioux School. Today my daughter and I are driving up to Sioux Falls to visit the teachers' stores. We only have one here in town and it's pretty limited.

Could you please tell me, do teachers write summer end of year reports to parents in your country.
If so, what format are these in and do they reflect the entire years subjects taught or are they a more general summary of a child’s year and achievements.
I am doing a research project on south dakota. I am in 3rd grade and would like to be a pen pal with someone from there who can give me a little help with my project. Thank you.
I teach three sections of an Early Childhood Classroom Structure/Behavior Management class in the fall (with about 55-60 students total) I am looking for early childhood classroom teachers who would be interested in an "e" project where they would become an e-pal with one of my students discussing classroom management strategies/ philosophies/approaches that work/have not worked in the classroom. It would involve about 4-6 e-mails where my students would inquire about classroom management and then the "sharing" of specifics about a particular classroom. Is there anyone out there who would like to be an e-pal for a semester for this project? I would also ask you to reflect and share if/how the project impacted you.

Hi, I - have over thirty-five teachers already involved in a Postcard Exchange, and would like you to consider joining too!
In September I will provide labels for all the schools involved, all you have to do is mail postcards from your state to the teachers on the labels. All the teachers will do the same, and you will receive postcards from all over the United States.
This is a great project to get your students involved in.
No cost except for the postcards and stamps to mail the postcards (students can bring them in!)
Here are the states we still need:
Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Idaho, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, Wyoming.
Please email me only if you see your state listed here and want to be a part of this great activity:
Here's a public invitation for application to the IndiVisual/Hewlett-Packard 'Read for Life' scholarship. I feel this is important to share with the public and hopeful you will help the spread the word with teachers and schools administrators about this great scholarship opportunity to help struggling readers.
The 'Read for Life' scholarship consists of a wireless mobile reading lab complete with 5 Hewlett-Packard laptop PCs complete and 3 years unlimited student-use of IndiVisual Reading ($25,000 value). Another plus with this scholarship is the fact that Dr. John Manning, a former president of the International Reading Association, is the author/advisor behind the IndiVisual Reading program. The scholarship is available to any public, private, parochial or charter school within the United States.
