Hi Utah teachers! I'm a fellow teacher who just happens to
live in Ga. I teach 4th grade. I just got a new student from
your state. According to the new student (and his mom), you
guys don't use textbooks, but EVERYTHING is hands on! That
is wonderful! I was wondering how true that is, and if it is
true, how do you teach things like Social Studies and Math
without a book? I can understand Science being hands-on. I
feel like I do many hands-on activities in class, but I'd
love to hear what Utah is doing to make your schools so
great!:-) My new student is a smart kid who is really having
a hard time adjusting to the way Georgia does things. I'm
trying to make his transition as easy as possible. Anyway,
share your secrets!:-) Ally 4th

I've taught in Utah. Don't believe everything. Yes, we
still use books here, for every subject.

What school is this student coming from? We just moved here to
Utah from GA and we were in an amazing school there (Duncan
Creek Elementary) and I am worried that we won't have the same
experience here! I miss the people in GA, everyone is so nice
and sincere there.
