Does anyone have a recommendation for a masters in education program that does not require a thesis...perhaps an end of program exam instead? I'm looking for a relatively easy program to complete.

Just a sanity check....... I am planning to go into the career switcher program is the Spring to become a teacher in Virginia. I assume once one is hired as a 1st year teacher one gets full benefits, particularly medical benefits immediately, correct? i.e. there is no probationary period.

Maybe it is just the school in Arlington you visited that does Investigations. Sometimes, lower income schools push it...don't know if that is the case with your school.

According to the vice principal and a woman at the district office, Investigations is used county-wide in Arlington. Though I agree, my personal experience is that districts who struggle seem to grasp at this program as a desperate measure to improve scores in the short term. As a parent, it sends me a message that the district has "thrown in the towel" on its kids potential. I will look into other APS - there is a science focus school here and I would hope they aren't teaching the kids fuzzy math there.

Hi, I want to do my MS in ESL since ESL is one of the critical shortage areas of teaching but at the same time I also hear a lot of budge cutting in fcps. How hard is it to actually get placement in the school once you get a license? In other words is pursuing a MS in ESl worth the time, money and committment?
