This was posted on another board, but it's worth cross- posting. Click on the link to see some great lessons on a variety of subjects. These are great ideas and I'm definitely going to "creatively borrow" the ideas for my class.

You might win some points if for each topic, you could come up with a somewhat simplified assignment for students with special needs who are often mainstreamed into art classes. Check on line for art ideas as for the various levels of school.
Hello! I have certification in Special Ed., Elementary,SS and Science HS.
I was in Florida and currently have a full license in VA, MD and FL. Why does VA seem to have many more job openings than MD. Is it because MD has the union and tenure maybe? Thanks!
I've taught in Maryland and it's definitely not the union issue. I addition to what PWCS teacher said, it' also that there is a lot of construction still going on. New homes means more kids which means more teachers.
ChrisI can't speak from fact, but only from what I "feel" as a job applicant in both states. If you notice, places like fairfax and prince william post all their vacancies. On the other hand, Loudoun does not. If you look at MD, more counties are like Loudoun in that you apply to the county, but only the harder to staff positions are posted. It might "feel" like there are more openings in VA simply because they post them all more often. As far as I know, VA is right-to-work but still has tenure no? I can also tell you, that VA is the only non-union state I'm applying in. Most of the others seem pretty ugly with compensation and conditions. I spent my money getting a NC certification, but from what I see, I don't believe I'd take a job there. I like both VA and MD quite a bit :) The VA HR departments are by far superior to NJ and PA schools. (where I'm from) The MD ones are good too. They actually call you back when you have questions, answer emails, and everybody seems to know what they're doing. I'm very impressed with VA so far :) Fairfax and Virginia Beach in particular have gone beyond my expectations. Fairfax secretaries seem really on top of everything.

Hi there, check into George Mason University. That's where I got my ESL certification. Do you currently have a teaching license & do you teach?
Does anyone know if Loudoun County is expanding the math investigations program for the 2010-2011 school year? I am considering a position at either Buffalo Trail, Pinebrook, or Arcola E.S., but don't want to work at a school that has math investigations.
I think those schools may have a math coach who visits them every week or two. Otherwise, think they follow the county planning guide, though I don't know about 2010-2011
I do NOT want this to become a gripe session for Math Investigations. What I would like to know is - Is there a part of MI that is positive for the kids? What is the best practice MI uses? How can that be integrated into math instruction? Keep it serious and no venting allowed!

Unless you will be teaching a course that does not require any writing and grading of writing content of students, I suggest that you really think long and hard about what this is telling you. Your comment suggests that you do not see the significance of being about to write a proper composition and the significance of hopeing for a score of just passing.
...See MoreThe test doesn't require me to write a paper. I have to respond to questions that are asked...it's just the writing portion of the test. I do know that writing is very important. I try to instill that in to my students who don't seem to think it's important. Passing is very important. As stated, without a passing score I don't have a job!!!

Was browsing the LCPS site and noticed that the curriculum guide has removed the textbook from it, leaving only Investigations and various links to supplemental resources. A link below is attached for 4th grade. Anyone know what is up with this?
I hope that this isn't the case, because I prefer the "blended" approach. I am wondering if the new Math guru is trying to pull a fast one here, just like the old one did...and we know what happened to her!
