I urge you to apply in the fall to sit on one of the committees for next summer. It is a great experience and you WILL get insight and a new appreciation for the test.
HeatherDo you have any insight into the style or type of questions being asked? I am a struggling Social Studies teacher for WHI and WHII. I have had scores in the mid-90s since I started teaching and after last year, I simply don't know what to do or if the new questions I am writing ar effective. Thanks!

Don't worry about the scores from last year - it was a bloodbath for everyone.

I'm seeeking a teaching position with the Catholic Diocese of Richmond. Anyone know where the salary scale is posted? Is the scale similar to public schools? It is not on the diocese website. Thanks

In some systems, different schools have some freedom in this. Catholic high schools often pay more than elementary and some have slightly different benefits. You might try posting on the private school board.

Hello. I'm thinking of moving to VA from GA, where I have my teacher certification (Sp. Ed. HQ). Where are the collab. positions, preferably elementary? Where are the better, worse districts? Thanks.
Gifted TeacherLots of colleges offer the endorsement courses and practicum. University of Richmond's is cost-effective and William and Mary's is excellent (but rigorous).

If you are frustrated with the cut backs in teaching positions, but still need a career; why not look in a different field that is growing when other industries are shinking. Contact me for more information with MassMutual/Commonwealth Financial Partners. We are expanding in our Virginia Beach, Lynchburg areas.

She was always a hard wo...See MoreI just got great news from a young girl I first met about seven years ago when I presented in a community college class on children with special needs. She wanted to be a preschool teacher for students with disabilities - and last week she got her dream job offer of a preschool inclusive class at an at risk school.
She was always a hard worker and set on her goal, but it took time and it was not a straight shot. Along the way she served as a companion for our youngest daughter for several years. She did not get to transfer into the teacher program of her dreams from a community college on her first try. Then after doing three+ years in school and graduating with high honors, she found only a job as a teaching assistant last year in our community. Then a summer school teaching position and now up in NOVA the job she had always hoped for!!
She actually went to a Job Fair a couple of weeks ago in NOVA and got two job offers from it.
I am merely curious, but what is the VADOE's position on how computers is taught in school districts? In certain Northern VA districts, the teachers are the ones who teach computers, but in other areas, the Computer Tech teachers teach the lessons.
