I'm a high school biology, anatomy and genetics teacher in Ohio. I've been here for 3 years and have a MS in molecular genetics. Also coach varsity wrestling. I'm looking to teach honors or equivalent and AP bio or environmental. I'm blocked by seniority here in Ohio to a crap teacher.
Questions are: 1. How difficult is it to transfer licensure?
2. What's the job market like in the suburban Richmond area. Looking for equivalent school; one with good achievement and test scores.
3. What's the best resource to find a job? Do they have job fairs for the surrounding counties, henrico, chesterfield, Hanover etc
We plan to relocate to the Northern part of Virginia next summer. I'm an ESOL elementary teacher from Florida. Which school district do you recommend? That offers jobs, positive and professional work environment. I'm interested in Fairfax but have heard good things about Montgomery County in Maryland. Thanks for your help.
Recently applied for two teaching positions in Loudoun County about a week or so ago. Should I be emailing principals my resume and a quick note that I've applied for the listed position through the county website and am interested or forgo it? What is the proper etiquette for this type of thing?
I'm considering relocating to Virginia, how is the pension in Virginia/ DC area schools? Do teachers there get social security? Is there stability for teachers or are there mass layoffs as there have been in other cities? What rights do teachers have if excessed due to budget? Thank you.

I am going to school to become a teacher. My issue is as follows: My husband and I both got into an argument. After calling the police they arrested me. I was taken in and told that I now have to go to court for a dmoestic abuse case. I hired a lawyer and it was reduced to tresspassing and finally dismissed after counseling. So, I don't have a conviction. My question is this: will this disqualify me when applying for a teacher position?
