Well, my 9th and 11th graders took their SOL's today. I was expecting less than stellar results. My 9th graders had a 94% pass rate (only one did not pass). My 11th graders hada 90% pass rate (two did not pass). The students that did not pass have AVERAGED 23 days absent this semester thus far. I am so proud of these kids! They have really had adversity and for them to do this well is amazing.

Jo to Bulldog I really didn't mean it to be snide. I honestly was confused by the disconnect between you thinking that they would get less than stellar results and do so amazingly well. It is a credit to you and your excellent teaching abilities and ability to recognize what your student need.

Bulldog to Jo I read the article. The test questions are not any easier per se, but I did look into some of my stuff and the number of questions a student has to answer correctly did drop by a few. In my discipline (history), it used to be 34 of 60 and now it's 30 of 60. Even so, the kids did well. What I really don't like is that I have to teach my class like a...See More

Yes, you are right they didn't necessarily change the question difficulty but the number needed to pass, which equates you need to know less of it to pass.
