VA Hiring Season

Hi All,

I know the market in VA is less than stellar, but I had a question regarding your hiring season. I'm in a "non-critical" (gosh i hate being called that) fairly low demand field. I've applied in the big Northern VA counties and Virginia Beach. I haven't heard a peep from anybody yet. I know some southern states tend to hire later, though I have no idea if VA does that. Would you say I'm still in the running and might get interviewed in July, or am I pretty much not getting considered since I applied in May and haven't gotten any contact yet? I know it would just be an educated guess, but thank you for your input :)

Eliza I don't know about the other two, but I'd avoid Orange if you can. They just reshuffled their principals all around and I don't think anyone is happy about it.

Jenny K I've peeked over a few of the responses and wanted to encourage you as well! I interviewed for a position on Tuesday with Frederick Co. and the principal called me back today saying I am her pick for it. I know Prince William Co. has many elementary positions but it is kind of hard to get an in, so you have to e-mail the HR person that corresponds to your last name and they will set your up with a pre-screening interview.

I'm sorry, but I don't know anything about Orange, Culpeper or Shenandoah but Frederick Co. is good.
