Hi

I am certified in middle school here in CT, but the jobs here are extermely rare - been looking for almost 5 years and managed to land a few LTS assignments, one half-time assignment, and some para jobs. I do have my Masters.

What is the job outlook in VA? Are there teaching positions available?
Bulldog It depends on what you're certified in. Sped writes their own ticket. By your handle I'm guessing music? I'd say you're going to have a tough time, but the outlook is somewhat better. It just depends upon where you want to teach and what you want for pay. Check the vdoe website and see if there is anything out there you'd like.

flutetoot Thanks for the response - yes, I'm certified in music (PreK-12), but am also certified in Middle School English & Social Studies. Unfortunately, in my area, the teaching field is flooded and there are over 100+ applicants for every job posted.

Bulldog to flutetoot You should be able to find a job without much problem since you can pull ELA and Soc Sci. Just so you know, VA is a right to work state and the wages are not as much as what you are used to seeing in the NE states. The cost of living is much lower in some areas, so be sure to check all of these things.

Good luck!

Bulldog!
